They gave me so many offers. Started at 80k and I said no it wasn't enough. I thought clinical FAs made more than non clinical FAs and I make way more than that. Then I was told bonuses are not set in stone and depend on DQI and other factors. The ROD didn't believe me when I told her how much I make. She had to look at my hours and pay to calculate it. A week later told me 85, two weeks later they said 90, then mentioned no FA in the region makes that much. After two more negotiations they offered 105. I finally asked them to stop making me offers unless it was 130. They then offered me a CC position without a pay increase, and I politely declined.

Is anyone a nurse facility administrator for DaVita? I was offered the role, but they never mentioned pay. I don't trust glassdoor and would like a heads up from Clinical FAs. I was offered an FA role at one clinic and provide assistance to the PD nurse. I'm a PD nurse now. Working as a PD nurse with ~8hrs of overtime a week doing hemodialysis, I make a lot. I don't want to make less, but I know clinical FA's make more than non clinical. I also know there are bonuses and higher positions may exist in the future. I don't know if I would be allowed to pick up HD shifts bc I'll be a salaried FA. I just need to know if the money is worth it. I understand it's a different environment and its not working with patients, etc etc....I'm just asking about a ballpark for clinical FA compensation + bonuses. I'm in the Austin, TX area. Thanks

I was a new grad DaVita nurse. I stayed for a year then I left. It’s a good job that pays well, but it was super repetitive for me. You will never be afraid to stick a needle in anyone ever again once you get used to this job ? I went from using 14, 15, and 16 gauge needles to now using “regular” needles and thinking it’s so simple now. Work starts early but you get off at a decent hour. Training is long so you’ll feel like the work is easy paced but once you’re in your own you’ll see how it can get tough- the toughness is only when you have multiple patients to take off when you have others waiting to sit down. The job is nothing to fear. You’ll learn a lot!!

I know dialysis nurses with an Associates degree and 2000 clinical hours can test for their CDN and nurse with a bachelors degree and 3000clinical hours can test for their CNN. Does anyone know the pros to getting certified with DaVita? I know they pay for it if I pass. Will I get a merit increase or just another pin to put......wherever I put my other pins ?

I graduated last December and rafter a short but enlightening experience as a Correctional Nurse, I went to DaVita Acutes. I’m probably too late, but here’s my impression. Acutes: Training is...okay. It’s subjective bc if your preceptor doesn’t teach you by the book, then you learn his/her ways and you’ll think that’s the right way. Basic Training the week long training program is online now bc of COVID, so your preceptor is key- hope they’re good. I didn’t like acutes bc it takes your personal time away. Sometimes it’s two patients a day and with paperwork you’re looking at a good 10 hour day, but if more patients are added on....and if the on call nurse is already overloaded.....your day is now longer. I also disliked being on call. One Sunday every six weeks, but always at least one week a week on call. Hated it! You get paid more on your call days, you get paid to travel to other hospitals....but blah. Also it’s lonely. You barely ever see your “coworkers” and have to sit with patients ranging from 0-10. I switched to a Chronics after six months. Chronic: I actually learned more about dialysis, more about proper interventions, dialysis drug importance, diet, and more. In the hospital you clean the blood and could honestly care less about weight- because you use the patients bed and who knows the pillows and sheets added to it. But the training nurses just put whatever was on the bed- now I understand the importance of proper weight. It’s nice to have co workers. The clinic is more busy but you have people who can help you if you say “help me out guys”, instead of floor nurses looking at you like....uhhh nope. The clinic is more “nursing” tasks as well. Putting patients on dialysis machine is mostly done by Techs but nurses can have their patients they put on treatment too- but you also have a lot of other nursing roles. It makes the job of dialysis nurse seem like an important job. I’m glad I did acutes first, bc now in the clinic I appreciate what we do more. Also set schedules are nice and it’s always closed Sunday and holidays ?

I heard the dollar pay is higher in acutes but like I said I never asked anyone how much they make so I can’t be sure. Acutes also make more pay if they travel to other hospitals- which’s happens often in acutes. Well fro DaVita

I left acute (hospital) and am now in chronic (clinic). I’ve heard acutes pay more but I’m not sure because I never asked anyone how much they make ? but the clinic offered me the same pay when I switched over. Sure thing

Yes they will. They told me that the letters should all go out at once. The deadline for paying your acceptance dues is March 30 I believe, so they don't let people wait long after getting letters to decide. By mid April the wait listed people will know if they're going to get in or not via a second letter. You should call them tomorrow and ask about your letter, someone above did and she was emailed I believe.

Lisa. (?) told me they would be mailed on the 16th when I asked her during my interview. We all should probably be getting some kind of letter this upcoming week.

Try just mailed them out today, it's surprising that someone received a letter already. But whether you're accepted or wait listed, I believe all letters are mailed out at once

I just had my interview today. It was very laid back like everyone is saying. In case no one asked, I have info for letters. March 14th the admittance committee will meet. They will decide and send letters by March 16th. If you get wait listed, you'll get a follow up letter mid April if you have to reapply. around 80 people applied to CARE and 55 will be accepted.
