LSU BSN

Published

Hi everybody,

Im new to this site and could really use some advice. Im starting LSU traditional BSN program. Was wondering if anyone has any advice about what to expect and what I should do to prepare. Also if anyone is actually a student at LSU that would help or if they are starting in the Fall as well.

omgosh school is 2 weeks away! im getting nervous/excited! is anyone bringing their parents for family day?

I am getting excited/nervous too! My family lives to far away to come but my boyfriend is coming to support me. I can't believe that class is starting so soon!

:D

I'm going to be out of town for family day, I'm so disappointed that I'm going to miss it! I can't wait for school to start!

I wish we had a better of idea of what our schedule was going to be... I remember them mentioning the "moodle" thing at the orientation, but I haven't been able to log on, has any else tried?

I guess we'll get our official schedule on the 12th, right before school.

Have a happy and safe new years!

Bringing my mom with me, should be fun! My fiance works in the resources building on campus, so he'll be with me in spirit hah!

my moodle is up and running, noticed i was able to log in last week! be sure you're typing everything in correctly...i would email somebody if you nothing changes in the next couple of days.

yes it is a little strange not knowing exactly what time our classes are, but we will know soon enough! very excited and extremely nervous!

yea my mom and dad are coming. i could access moodle since last tuesday too. maybe ur mispelling ur pw. call 568-help theyre helpful! i got all my books and printed out all that stuff for intro to prof nursing too. im so ready to get my schedule with actual times!! its frustrating not knowing what times ill have! im so excited to start but nervous too

hmmmmm.... you sign on with just the first part of your e-mail right? I dunno, they must have missed putting me in, and now I think everyone is on vacation :) I'll definitely give that number a call after the new year, thanks!

yea like if your username is lets say bobsmit thats what ud put as the name and then ur pw..same thing u do for ur email. but i was looking at y moodle under participants and not all of the studentsare there yet, because 100 got accepted and in each class i have like 83, 73, 65, etc. maybe they havent finished putting everyone. they open january 4 so def. call.

so i received an email for financial aid showing how muchall the fees are..for the nursing tech fee theyre charging me $70 when online and one of my friends told me theyre charging her $60. what does it say for yalls? I'm really worried now because i dont know what lse they are charging me wrong.

Congratulations to all of you that got accepted for Spring 2010. This will be my second semester at LSU, and I absolutely love it. I Ended up needing a haircut after finishing up the Fall semester, but all of the stress and hardwork paid off. If you all need help with anything, do not hesitate to ask.

CONGRATULATIONS AND BUCKLE UP FOR THE RIDE!!!

P.S. The class schedules with date/time/room are up on the website. From the home page click Current Students, under Academic click on schedules, click on course schedules, and then click on undergraduate under Spring 2010.

Once again, welcome to LSUHSC SCHOOL OF NURSING

thanks! how did u feel about your first semester at lsu? do u also think physiology was the hardest? im gettin nervous so i want to hear what u have to say!

My first semester at LSU was very stressful. I have never studied so hard in my life. Yes, physiology was the hardest. Actually, it was the only class that I struggled in. You will come to hate that class. I suggest that you get with a study group A.S.A.P!! After our first test, there were some people that withdrew from the program. Notice I said program and not class. Your hardest test will be the Cardiovascular and Immunology exam (exam 3 I think). The majority of the class bombed this exam, including me :'-( One good thing about the class is that you can fail every single exam, but if you pass the final, you pass the class. Oh my god don't even let me get started on the final exam. The questions were clinical scenarios where you had to incorporate every system of the body to get the answer and almost every question had none of the above, all of the above, a and b are correct, don't you just hate those. I don't see how anyone could fail all of the exams and pass the final. That I know of, we've lost about seven people to this class. Quick question for you: Do you know if you all will be using Clickers?? This will be very helpful for you. You take in class quizzes with it and it also takes attendance. All of your attendance points and quiz points will be added to your "FINAL" score. We didn't have this advantage because our class was big, but a lot of the people in the class before us said that it helped them out tremendously. After the final, I threw most of my powerpoints and notes away, but I have a lot of old tests and some other notes that you can have. The old tests are great to use to test yourself. I might even still have the emails with the old tests. Whenever me or my fellow classmates would get hold of some info that might be helpful in the class, we would send it out as a mass email to the entire class. I so love those guys...that helped out a lot. Anyways, if I still have them, I can forward them to you. I wish I can say what I want to say about this class, but there would be too man *expletives*, but all in all I enjoyed my first semester.

P.S. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE try not to miss any of these physiology classes. If you have to, try and get the notes from the class that you've missed because you will be so far behind and sometimes they lecture about things that are not in the book.

Oh, I also have old tests for Abnormal Psychology, if you are taking it. You will love this class. The instructor is super awesome.

P.S. AGAIN :-) On every Physiology test, there is a bonus essay question. If you absolutely don't know the answer, make sure you write your name on it and turn it in because you get one point with just your name. All of the bonus points from the tests aren't added in until the final, so this can help you out in the end. I think that is all, but if you have any other questions just ask. I will try to help you out as best as I can. Not too long after the semester starts, you all will be assigned a Big Brother/Big Sister from our class. The Big Brother/Big Sister usually hands down all of their old notes, tests, etc. Everyone in our class are so generous, so I know that your Big Brother/Big Sister will be very helpful to you.

omgosh ill SO TAKE YOUR TESTS/NOTES whatever you have! im desperate! and yes im taking abnormal psyc so ill take those notes too if u dont mind! i already have a group of friends that will make up our study group so w.e i get from you i will def. share with them! im not sure if we need clickers yet. we have family day coming up so we should find out then! but ill def. keep u posted if we do!

ive been studying chapters 1-5 for physiology so hopefully thatll help me!

im going to try to send you a message just to u with my name and phone number and maybe we can meet up before school starts if u dont mind!

i really appreciate you taking the time to tell not on me but everyone who is one here about our first semester. you really went into depth with what u had to say and im glad! hearing all this just makes me more motivated because i plan on applying to the masters program when im done so i def. need nothing but A's and B's. i know its going to be hard but i think i can do it if im determined!

about test three..oh jeez thats kind of scary! ive already made flash cards for the first 5 chapters so what ill do is try to do the same for all chapters so by the time i get there itll maybe help lol! im glad u did great even tho it was hell this semester! and im glad ur still in it because that just shows that ur determined to get what u want!

i cant wait to get a big! how exactly does it work tho? like when and how do they assign you to someone?
