no lpns?

Today, I was in the financial aid office, and the lady told me Florida would not be hiring any Lpns next year. I just about fell off my chair, because I'm waiting to hear back, I just applied to the program. She told me hospitals were fazing them out by next year. I have read some of the threads on this, it seems to go all over the place. Anyways, now I'm a little nervous, know I shouldn't be, but I had a plan all layed out and wonder what the future will be when I am finished. I just think it's crazy that a financial aid lady would be telling a student this. I hope this is wrong, I will need to work when I am through and doing my pre reqs for the bridge program.

we have 2 LPN's in our med/surg day shift (1 is 1/2 thru her RN transition) and a new grad LPN on nights who is also looking to pursue her RN in the near future, our psych unit also has 1 who is also 1/2 way through her transition as well, and there is 1 in the ICU that was working ICU for YEARS and is hands down one of the best, our main facility seems to hire LPN's that are in the transition program so they now that within a year that person will be an RN, they also limit them to the med/surg & psych, the ICU one is kinda grandfathered in because she's been there so long.
