LPN work options

Published

I'm currently in an LPN program and I'm due to graduate in December. I've been a medical assistant for 10 years so I have a lot of clinical experience. What are some good options for areas to work as an Lpn, besides clinics and nursing homes? I plan on bridging but it's going to take me a year or so to finish up my prerequisites.

This is highly dependent on the market and scope of practice where you're located. When I worked in Texas, there were LVNs in many areas of the hospital. In California, hospital jobs are somewhat "rare". The place I work had a few when I started, but they were laid off in favor of RN staff. I do see an LVN here and there in psych.

Some rehab centers hire LVNS. You could look into that.

I have worked inpatient hospice and long term care in the past, and currently work in a public health outpatient clinic.
