LPN while taking prenursing courses. What do you think?

My college has LPN to RN program. Is it wise to get in a LPN program while taking my prerequisites? I'm done with most of my prerequisites except biology and microbiology classes. I already earned an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts.

Btw., during my orientation, the speaker said that CNA, LPN, or LVN gets a credit when they apply in nursing program. Now, I'm thinking that applicants who already have knowledge in caring of patient(s) can get in faster than me. I have experienced in workforce (medical billing, cashier, purchasing, food server,) and taking care of my kid. That's all I have.

I greatly appreciate your input.

I wouldnt do an lpn program while taking biology that will be too much and overwhelming, nursing school is hectic. Try to do a cna course or just apply to the school, there are people who arent in the health/medical field who got into nursing school. Youre also accepted based on your interview, grades, gpa, etc so just apply then take it from there no need to waste time and money :)

There are often several prerequisites for the LPN program too, mind you. I firmly believe it is easier to gain admittance to an RN program after being an LPN, but my college had stiff competition for both programs.

As Diva said, just try to get in the RN program. Apply to both programs at the same time even.

When do I get an interview? Is it prior to a TEAS exam?

I did speak to a counselor. He gave me a sheet that list everything I needed for the program with his signature in it.

It depends on the program they might require hessi entrance, net test, tabe, etc just check with the institutions that youre applying to

I know that i will apply for a lpn-rn transition program, so i decided to take the pre-reqs for both so i won't have to worry about taking them during either nursing program. I start my lpn program in august.
