2019-2020 LPN student roll call!

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone!!! I’ll be starting school in May , and I wanted to know is there anything I should be doing now to prepare? Any tips or suggestions? Good luck to everyone!!

Well I officially started in April, so I'm currently in my 4th month now. I will say the best thing to prepare is just get your mindset together.

At 33, I had to mentally prepare for school life again. I'm a single mom of 2 boys as well. So I had to change a lot as far as home & working schedules. I will suggest investing in a planner to stay organized.

But as far as school itself, nothing I did to "prepare" worked lol. So I suggest just enjoying the free time you have before this journey begins! And stay focused once it starts! It's not easy, but it's going to be worth it!

Also... STUDY. STUDY. STUDY!!!

I started on Aug 19. Finishing up my prerequisites Intro to Healthcare and Nursing Fundamentals. I applied to the LPN program. My current GPA is 3.25 and the requirements for GPA is 2.75 and these two classes. I sure hope there are seats left for me I applied really late. But no one told me I had to apply. I heard it from a classmate on the last day to apply.

Well not sure if I qualify to reply to this thread (started my LVN program Sep. '18) and currently just started my final semester! My advice.....STUDY STUDY STUDY, and just stay ahead of assignments and assigned readings as much as you possibly can. I work full time (40hrs per week) while in the program, and though its hard....its' very doable. It's all about time management.

Oh, and start doing practice Nclex questions from 1st semester onward! Goodluck everyone!!
