hello everyone. I know there are tons of posts on EC here and I have searched and went through them for hours at a time, but still only have a general understanding of what its all about. Not to mention the fact their web site is not the best as far as information.
Would some of u mind giving me a quick rundown of how it works and general costs and how long it takes most ppl to complete it?
I am in my 3rd month of LPN school(I know its early yet!) and am making plans to get my RN as soon as possible after the program(if I make it...oh, I mean WHEN I make it! ). I dont want to wait a year or more to start a traditional bridge program because of the time of year I graduate its too late to apply for January. I have most of the pre reqs so I would literally just be waiting and waiting. Im getting impatient bc I waited 2 years to find an LPN program with space available, plus Im ready to be done with all of this because Im ready to start a family within the next 2 years.
Maybe I dont know how to use the search function properly because it brings up a lot that Im not looking for so I spend so much time going through post by post. but Id appreciate any info or direction u could give! TIA!

Once you have your LPN you can apply to EC unless you live in a state which grants temporary practice permits, then you might be able to apply sooner.
From what I know (and that's not too much so far as I have just begun myself) the program is self directed. You study then you test. When you pass the test for one concepts course you study and test for another and so on. Once you complete all the NCs and the exams and are within 9 credits of finishing, you schedule the clinical evaluation. When you pass the clinical validation and all your required courses, you apply (I think you have to apply) for graduation.
As for specifics on fees, I encourage you to call the admissions department because I don't have exact figures here at my desk. What I can tell you is you pay a yearly enrollment fee, a clinical evaluation fee (not until you reach that point) and an exam fee each time you test. Other than those fees, I believe anything else you would want (textbooks, etc.) are up to you. What I mean is if you have current med/surg books, etc., the school does not require you to purchase another text. The study guides for each course are free (you can print them right from the web site) so PLEASE don't let anyone try to sell those to you.
I hope this helps you and I encourage you to get a list of your questions together and call the admissions department at Excelsior.
Good luck
