What are some of your study techniques for passing your exams?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I started 8/5/13 and have done well thus far. I read the chapter, question in back of chapter, review CD that comes with book, outline the chapter, and a little highlighting. We're just in the basics for now and I don't find it to difficult. That will probably be another story when I soon enter A/P, but I'll deal with that when we arrive there.

Find what works for you and run with it. You'll learn what is the best method for you, being we all learn differently. But most of all don't give up!

Best of luck!:singing:

I used to do nclex questions out of my green saunders book and do my ati online quizzes as well. It helped me think critically and how to use strategy to answer a question.

When I did study out of my med surg book, I read the matetial to understand it. I would also paraphrase each chapter in my own words so that I was able to understand the material.

Depends on what kind of learner you are. I learn by reading the chapters & making flashcards on the things I won't remember along with anything the teacher emphasized. The days before the test I go over my flashcards a few times and once right before the test. Also if the teacher provides any type of study guide or review, use it to your advantage. :)

Good Luck!

I draw pictures. Literally. I am a visual learner and things come together when I draw it out and get a feel for it. I also watch youtube viseos for a visual of how each system works, or each skill, etc.

I record all review sessions and listen to them several times. I also make flash cards and type out study guides. If I don't understand something, I search for a video on YouTube. So far, it's working for me.

You just have to find what works best for you. What works for one, doesn't always work for another. Also, I've used some of the free resources on Cardiac Output | Preload and Afterload | simplenursing.com. I'd love to be able to buy the full membership but it's too expensive for me.
