Hello! I just got my acceptance letter to LPN school! First off, I am extremely excited and have never felt so determined for anything in my life. But I am worried because I have a 3 year old daughter and a husband. He is exceptionally supportive, but what I want to know, is how you mothers handled nursing school with children? Tips on how to manage my time etc? Thank You in advance! :)
I'm thankful for all of the encouragement. I'm starting the LPN program in the fall and I have three kids, 10, 8, and 5. I have been taking classes for my RN and BSN part time through the last few years so we are already used to a schedule, but I've been nervous about starting the LPN program.
I took my books with me and locked myself in the bathroom or closet!! HAHAHA I had a 3 and 4 year old when I went through LPN school. It was tough. My statement is funny but true. I honestly did that on many occasions. They also were famous for beating on the door. I did get traditional study time (or I probably would have failed). I had a great support system. My husband helped out whenever he could and his grandma was great with watching the boys for me. Without them, I probably couldn't have done it. I'm sure you will do just fine. I wish you the best of luck and when all else fails-- hide in the closet!! :)

I just graduated from LPN school and I have an almost 5 year old. It's hard but definitely doable. The things that I found helpful was to stay ahead of classwork and don't wait till the last min. On days when my son would go to preschool or daycare, I would do all my classwork and assignments for that week and try to get as much work and reading done as possible. Good luck to everyone.

First off, congrats on being accepted into the program! :) Having a family, & nursing school is not the EASIEST combination to deal with lol, but it can be done!!! I have a very supportive husband, and a toddler. Being that I still want to spend as much time as possible with them, I realize that time management is KEY so I try to adhere to a strict schedule. When I'm released from class @ about 2 pm, I study & do w/e else I may need to for school thru about 6 pm (which is when my son has to be picked up by). The remainder of the evening belongs to my family! We go to bed @ about 9:30 pm so that's a pretty even balance for me. Our tests are usually held on Mondays, so I also go to the library & meet with my study group for about 2 hrs on Sat & Sun just to review. This has been working out very well!
