  1. I don't post on here often, however I am on here a lot reading other's post. I wanted to share my story as well... I graduated my LPN program December 18, 2014. My program didn't except Fasfa, so I had to pay out of pocket and find other funding. I Live in Michigan and we have a work program that help you to find jobs and they will help pay for schooling for those that qualify. Needless to say I was one of those who qualified. Upon graduating I had a 2500 dollar balance on my tuition which had to be paid before the school would release my affidavit to the state. This balance was to be paid by the work program. Well the work program would set a date that the balance would be paid by and when the date arrived there was always a problem or delay, This happened until December 2015! Exactly a year after graduating the program!!! All of my classmates were passing their exams and working and here I was a year later still waiting for my balance to be paid. Well by the will of God the program finally released the funds to my school and they sent my affidavit. I sent in my application and in January 2016 I was finally made eligible to test and scheduled my test for February 18, 2016. Now to the testing part. When I scheduled my test I had three weeks to study. Prior to this I had been studying off and on for the whole year. My resource of choice was Saunders Nclex-PN review. In the three weeks before the exam I did about 1500 questions and prayed for God to guide me everyday. The day before the exam I did not study at all. The night before and the morning of I was a nervous wreck. I couldn't sleep and the morning I vomited. On the dive there I listened to gospel music. During the test I was so scared because some of the material I had never seen. I stopped and prayed to God throughout the whole test. Two hours in my eyes began to get sore from staring at the computer screen. I took the scheduled break and just sat in the lobby with my eyes closed to rest them and to pray again. Oh yea when I reached 85 questions and it didn't shut off I was even more nervous but I told myself ok if I'm doing bad I'm not doing horribly bad that it shuts off at the minimum questions. at about 150 I'm like ok Terra the computer cant tell but the question are still coming so I still have a chance. Once again I stopped to pray. I finished my test with 205 questions and 8 mins left. leaving the test I was so sad because I really wasn't sure how I did. I prayed throughout the day and my family tried to keep me up lifted. I didn't sleep well that night. The next morning I took my son to school came home and checked the state board of Licensing and there it was!!!!! My licenses had posted!!!! and posted the day after I took my test!!!! I AM OFFICIAL A NURSE!!!! IT WAS NOTHING BUT THE GRACE OF GOD!!!! On my test I had mostly patient teaching, A lot of meds, about 5 calculations, and a lot of priority questions. And I passed on the first try.
  2. No you can apply before you take pre reqs you just have to make sure you have all the other criteria. If you are accepted you will have a level one acceptance and you will get level two acceptance upon completing pre reqs.
  3. I start Monday I will let you know
  4. My school gave stethoscopes then my auntie just brought me a Littman for Christmas. We also go pen light, gloves, bandaids, scissors, bandages, catheter kits, insulin syringes plus a lot more. It was our skills kit for fundamentals. We start January 6.
  5. My program I am starting usually starts clinicals. the first week. But with my class we are starting the second week. We had a class called jumpstart to fundamentals (it's new) that we had to learn head to toe assessment. The class was two weeks 3 days for 5hours. It you didn't pass that you couldn't go on to fundamentals which starts January 6.
  6. January 6, 2014 @ Oakland Riverview Institute
  7. The work is not bad. I have high 80's in all of my classes except math and pharm and midterms are next week. I have like a 75 in math and pharm and you have to have an 80 to pass. I can't tell how she grades because it will be another person who has two more question correct than me and their grade will be like 8% higher than mine. But she says not to worry everything is accumulative so don't give up. We shall see!
  8. I'm taking Math and Pharm, Nutrition, Growth and development, and A&P. I got my books from the school, but they closed the bookstore now. They should be able to tell you where you can purchase them though. I work in the summer so all my checks went to my tuition and my son's tuition. Hopefully I can get money from michigan works. I do not want to take out anymore loans.
  9. Hi I'm taking my pre reqs there right now. If all goes well I will be starting core classes in January! I paid for my pre reqs put of pocket. After I'm done michigan works said I can give them a call back although they won't know how much they can give because it's always different they should be able to give some. So I'm hoping that goes through.
