LPN School, Americare Insitute in Hanover Park Illinois

Published

Anyone from you guys have an information about this school? The second batch will start soon around August 2007. Im still devating If I'll go to this school paying more money for an LPN program instead of waiting much time to get into community college. I am pretty much sure that I wanna take LPN first than go straight to RN.

Here's the website http://www.americare.edu/

neveragain00- I'm just curious because I am looking into going to Americare and am nervous to ask what is so bad about it? I know it is pricey but its the only school that has night classes that are part time, what can get better than that! Its too bad Harper doesn't have a night school program. I thought I heard about possible talks of one because I am in the CMA program right now. But if you are looking into anywhere else let me know because I would like to do Nursing so badly but its hard when I have to work full time during the day.

Apparently, neveragain00 has one post. And it was to talk bad about this school. I sense foul play.

Anyway, I had a meeting with an admissions person, and she was really nice and helpful. It was funny because while I was waiting, the staff or whoever kept asking me if I wanted water or anything while I was waiting. That was really nice of them, but I thought it was kinda funny how like, 4 people asked if I wanted water, and another person asked if I wanted a bagel. Lol.

So, I went on a tour but I didn't get to go into some of the rooms because there was orientation or something. Which explains why it seemed so busy that day. And the bagels.

So she gave me this packet of stuff that I could have printed out from the website, but told me a lot of stuff that wasn't on the website. That was nice.

I'm having my transcript reviewed from COD, but I don't think I'm going to start until the fall of this year or Jan 09 because I think I have, like, NO prerequisites done, and I'm in no rush.

I forgot to add this:

I still don't want to DECIDE on going to this school without looking at other schools first. Does anyone have a link to threads about Omega, J-Renee, PCCTI, and other schools in the Chicago area? I went to Omega and would like to comment, and I want to read what people have to say about the other schools that I have not yet been to.

I did some research about this Americare Institute and from what i know I think they accredited school. I know friends that know friends that go there so I want to ask them for some help. I'm more worried about the quality of education they give there. Im really bad at independent study to some extent. I just ...really want to speak to someone that went to this school and graduated. Does anyone know anything about this school?? and how their teachers and classes and education is?? help please!!.

I did some research about this Americare Institute and from what i know I think they are an accredited school. I know friends that know friends that go there so I want to ask them for some help. I'm more worried about the quality of education they give there. this is my last resort I really don't want to go to this lpn school i rather just go to a community college and get my rn done but..the school i go to past this new rule about only how you can only take the NLN entrance exam to the nursing program 2 times in your whole life and if you did poorly basically your screwed. I Know students who have taken it 10 times...its just not fair. I took this test my 2nd time again yesterday and my score didn't improve one bit. with this score i have no chance of getting into the 2 year RN program i initially wanted to get in. Even with my good grades this NLN exam is what they really look at..I just don't know what my other options are and I don't know what to do...does anyone have any advice or been in the same situation?? please help!!

Im planning on attending Americare for fall of 08'. Yes its pricey but I want to get this done and over with. As far as quality, if I even see ONE wrong thing, I will immediately speak to the owner and clear things up because I want the right education. You have to fight for your money, your quality education, and complain about unqualified teachers. Even if you sound whiney, it does not matter--u PAID for it!!!

So let's see what happens, I'll keep you all updated.

Any updates? I'm planning on attending in the fall of 09'! Any grad's from there on here?

Hi everyone I thought this might be helpful to some of you, I originally emailed it to someone that was interested in the school. I decided to start at Americare last summer. I really have had a good experience so far. I finished my prereq's at Harper College and took the TEAS test and passed. It really wasn't too bad of a test,I also hate math and the format of those tests but managed to do well. But I am in the LPN program now and I am really enjoying it. I started my Fundementals of Nursing class on Janualry 14th. The Fundamentals class is really cool because you have clinicals and lab and you get to use sime man. I take classes at night part-time so it is not overwhelming with work. The people that run the school may seem a bit disorganized but you have just keep on top of them about books and such. I would suggest emailing Allison, she does alot of admissions stuff there and I believe her email is on the schools website. If you can't find it let me know. I got my CNA and CMA at Harper but the nursing program is insane to get into. There were girls in my medical assisting classes that had been waiting four years to get into the nursing program at harper. So I decided I wasnt waiting around and that Americare was my best option. At Americare they have an orientaion program that you can sign up for to get info on the school and what you need to get in so you may want to sign up for that. The school costs $17,000 for the LPN program. That includes books and materials. I took out a Sallie Mae Loan to help with the payments. I know they are getting an RN program relatively soon (I heard this summer) and was told that they will then recieve federal accredidation which will allow us to take out federal loans to pay for school. All of my classes from Harper counted except for my A&P and pharm. So I just finished A&P2 and pharm this past semester. The classes are hard but are definately doable. Hopefully this helps some people out there. If anyone has any other questions let me know I'd be happy to get back to you! : )

I'm hoping some one will pick back up on this post. Instead of starting a new one I thought I would try here. I am new to allnurses.com and have been reading about Americare and J. Renee. I was wondering if anyone had any current information on how they feel about these two places for LPN program? I am wondering if there is anyone out there that has graduated from either and passed their boards, how easy was it for you to get a job? Did you run into any problems with where you were schooled? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I also am wondering from people who have attended Americare about how classes are and how the professors are etc.. any info would be appreciated thanks

omg hey playas! long time no see.

Did u end up going to americare?

Im still deciding if i want to go there or not

I am currently a student at Americare Institute. Overall, I am impressed with their quality of education. Like so many others, I was on a waiting list for nearly 2 years at my community college. Eventually I grew tired of waiting, and started investigating private nursing schools. I researched many schools in the area: Omega, J Renee, PCCTI, and Americare Institute. After visiting all of them, I determined that Americare Institute was the best match for me. I attended an information session, in which the owner gave a power point presentation on their nursing program. After the presentation he addressed questions individually, and I really learned a lot. I applied at the school a few days later. All of my credits from my community college transferred, so I didn't need to take any prerequisite classes. All I needed to do was take and pass their entrance exam.

I started their LPN program in January, and I must say, I am satisfied with their staff, facility, and curriculum. All of their teachers are MSNs and the Director of Nursing has her PhD, so their education is valuable in terms of the teachers' credentials. Their summer graduating class also has a 94% pass rate (can you tell I've done my research?) I also don't have to find my own health care facility to fulfill clinical requirements. Many of the private schools I visited told me that I'd have to find a clinical facility on my own. Instead, they place you at a clinical site, so there's nothing additional to worry about.

I'm very happy with my decision to attend Americare. Although the tuition costs more, it's worth it. Chances are that I'll graduate and earn money before even starting the nursing program at a community college.

I just got back from Americare's information session, and I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, there is no waiting list, that's great. However, I'm not putting a 1,000.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT down. The only way that I can do this is through Financial Aid, not SallyMae(harder to qualify for). At the Community Colleges, they offer Federal grants and loans, here at Ameracare, they say that they are very sure they will get approved to start accepting Financial Aid, but cant guarantee it. So, if I put my 1,000 deposit down to hold my seat, and they dont get approved, well then I'm out 1000 bucks. I cant take that chance. They seem like ba great school if you can afford it.

Maybe it'sjst me, but a girl and her sister showed up and she just happened to be a graduate and was praising the school, I was wondering if they had planted her there, I dont know.

Take your pre req's at a community college, they want to charge like 700.00 a class, and 895.00 for the c.n.a, that's crazy. I think Im just going to see if they get approved for financial aid, and if they do, I will join, but i'm not risking the 1,000. Has anyone gone to the info. session last year r before and heard talk of them getting approved to accept financial aid before, do they say that every year?:uhoh3::uhoh3:
