I used to do "local" travel, but to be honest, the money is better these days in prn agency. I get contracts frequently from my prn agency, and it is much easier to find a "good fit" since I almost always work many non-contracted shifts prior to taking a contract assignment. From experience, you are best to work with an agency based out of KC or Topeka. They have way better rates.
I am an RN by the way, but I work alongside many agency LPN's. Look for rates to be in the $19-26/hour range.

i have worked for several. my top choice is cascade health services. great staffers (all seasoned veterans) and the best pay rates overall. i have also worked for starmed with mixed results (bought out by intellistaff) and alacrity (their paychecks bounce like rubber balls!!!! eek!!!).
cascade has offices in topeka and kc. i have actually worked some shifts down your way for them in fact. :)
thanks so very much for the info. i could really use some part time work, odd hours since i'm in school. BTW just curious are you and RN or LPN?
