Just wondering how nurses that are currently working in AZ like it? How is the pay for RN's and LPN'S. Any areas that you would recommend?:typing

Health care cost have continued to rise rapidly without the increase of staffing or pay increases for nurses so i'm not buying that. Maybe healthcare costs would go down if patients received quality care on the initial visit they would not be readmitted because they were discharged to soon or developed an infection during their initial stay. What if QUALITY OVER QUANTITY was the way to lower healthcare costs? Let's stop with the remodeling and start with the staffing? Or how about patient teaching by both doctors and nurses to treat the problem and not the symptoms... Wait that's totally wrong then office visits and routine labs would decrease, pharmacies would lose money.... modern health care would become affordable. Crap now we don't have a job said the CEO to the CNO - - - JUST AN OPINION

WHY NOT START TELLING FAMILIES AND PATIENTS THE TRUTH? BY NOT DOING SO WE CONTINUE TO ALLOW PLACEMENT OF BLAME ON US FOR POOR ADMINISTRATION. EXAMPLE "oh your light was on for 20 min and you've not had a bath this weekend?" I'll check into it we tell the family. The truth - Really, i'm not suprised have you looked around do you see any help here? Our Facility does not feel that you are truly important to actually get quality care, but we will bill you for it because in the future we are looking to remodel" LOL:nurse: Honesty might help??

1. I do agree that some type of solidarity or union needs to be formed period to unite the strength they tell us we don't have. Unfortunately nursing is a very catty, backstabbing, and fear based profession now days. 2. As for the massive walk out and the poor patients, well if we continue without enough staff allowing for pressure ulcers to develop, med errors to run rampant, honest care and concern for them to bring us back each day. really how much do we care about them allowing these places to continue? Or are we simply to scared to lose our job, because we need it and oh yeah there is a nursing shortage so I have to stay here.... what kind of insanity is thet?

I often wonder if maybe we as nurses should be helping the attorney and familes to punish the corporations financially, it seems that money has become their only real concern and the best way to get the attention.

Why is it then that pay and staffing conditions are not examined closer by the public or ourselves for that matter. It would stand to reason that if you needed someone to do a job that was in great demand pay would be higher. As for nurses, why is it that we have grown so accustom to taking the corporate crap? CONSTANT staffing shortages, low pay (hospitals in kansas pay less than home health, hospice, nursing homes -you name it) While pay n nursing homes and very limited acute care settings is slightly higher there is still no staff? Hmmm wonder why? Last as nurses we are thought of as caring people, but allow those we care for to be neglected by accepting assignments that are unsafe. ( 1 nurse to 57 pt? with 1 CNA maybe). We no longer seem to care for ourselves, our license, our profession or our patients when we allow these conditions to continue..... SO, then it is what can we do? I'm not exactly sure but something. There is a blog site for bad tippers that waitresses can go to to let others know... We need to form one for facilities maybe? Or maybe it is as simple as standing up and saying NO. I mean really they might fire you but hey with the staffing being the way it is all the shifts to sign up for posted I don't see a long line of replacements. Eventually when there is no one there to clock in those famous administrative words " I'll do it myself" as they sneak out the back door. Corporations, the State Board of Nursing, And maybe even families will begin to care about the caring profession.

Does anyone know if Saunders Comprehensive Review 4th Edition CD will work on a macintosh. I have googled it everyway i can think of with out even being able to find a technical support phone number. I called the bookstore and they could not find the system requirements anywhere either. I am so tired of buying study software that i can't use... Please help me if you can

I love 12 hour shifts, i think they are what keeps me from getting burned out in nursing. 4 days to regroup before i go back into the trenches.

many of the books in the bookstore do not list system compatibility for the cd's and reviews on the websites have conflicting information

I moved to Wichita last year with about 3 years experience and now make between 19.50 to 21.50 (with shift diff) not even IV certified.

does anyone know of a nclex-rn review with cd that works with macintosh? i can't believe how hard it is to find this out.

I also had a stillborn at 37weeks, went for a ultrasound a few days before at UCLA everything was fine. went to the ER a few days later due to not feeling any movement, no heartbeat I was induced at Cedars and given alot of sodium pentathol which made me feel very "high" during the delivery. it was my first child and i was 18. a perfect pregnancy until that day. no warning signs, nothing.... i had to know why, was something wrong with me? why did God do this i had done EVERYTHING the doctor told me to do, WHY??? i had an autopsy done... there was no definite cause of death, just possible high stress? it was the darkest moment in my life. the nurses at the hospital were wonderful, they made me a memory box. that was 8 years ago... time heals, just know that holding in your tears and feeligns only hold the pain. i'm here if you ever need to talk. - you are not alone *hugs*

I am currnetly a LPN attending ESU and was wondering if anyone knew what the average GPA for articulating LPN's to the RN program at Butler County Community College was (El Dorado). Thanks!
