Hey, magster. I'll be finishing LPN school next month, and I've done A LOT of research into LPN-RN programs in Ohio and online. I want to encourage you to get on that waiting list for RN school for several reasons:

1. You may not be able to get into an LPN-RN program right away. The community college I go to requires a year of LPN experience before entering their ACCESS (LPN-to-RN bridge) program. :angryfire

2. The time and expense will make it not worth it, especially since you don't really expect to work as an LPN. Nearly all bridge programs are a year and a half or more.

3. If you enter the waiting list early, you may be able to start school sooner than you think. At my school, I was already confirmed to start the PN program in Fall '06 -- then the program director called me last summer to ask if I wanted to join the Fall '05 class!

I think it depends on where you live. In West Virginia I just finished LPN school in June am completing my 5 prereqs for lpn - rn bridge which I will start in the fall and graduate in 16 mnths. This is a new program at a local hospital and university that also offers a traditional RN program. So far due to being new each class for the last several semesters have about 30 open seats that were not even applied for.
