Published

hello! i am currently in an lpn program in az. but want to move to the seattle area asap! i was wondering if anyone knows if there is a waiting list and how long it will take to get into an lpn-rn prgram in the seattle area? i have all the pre-req.'s done, but no health care experience. can anyone advise me on the process in wa? community colleges or university's, even lpn - bsn prgorams.

and, how competitive is it to get in? is it as hard as the community college rn route? high gpa, experience, ect.??

also, if i get my lpn license in az will that tranfer to wa? should i take my nclex-pn in wa if i know that is where i want to work? or transfer once i am in seattle?

thanks for the help!!

1) There are a few lpn-RN programs in washington, mostly at community colleges.

a) Everett Community Colleges

b) Lake Washington Technical College

c) North Seattle Community College

d) Shoreline Community College.

2) No LPN-BSN programs that I know of but you can always go the UW and complete your BSN.

3) You can get you license here or take the test in Arizona and have it endorsed here.

4) I would get some experiece before applying to any LPN-BSN programs, some schools require one year of experience.

Good Luck !

Thank you!!! Now I have a list to go searching!!!

One more thing - Do you know if they are competitive to get into?

Thanks!

Highline Community College and Tacoma Community College also have LPN-RN programs. I am partial to Highline since I went there. I would recommend when you take your NCLEX that you apply in Washington if your are positive you are moving here. You can get the forms on http://www.doh.wa.gov. To answer your question yes it is competitive but not quite as hard as getting in to a straight RN program.

Why is it less competitive to get into an LPN-RN than straight RN? I would really like to get into a straight RN program but the school that I am applying to right now has the LPN-RN( North Seattle CC). What is the difference between North Seattle's LPN-RN program with Shoreline ADN program?

Thanks!

same here, i am still waiting if i get into the nscc lpn program and the everett nursing, but i don't know which has the better program...i live in everett, i know i should consider everett community college, but i am so comfortable with the instructors at nscc and they even have the best financial assistance compared to evcc...

i am just hoping to getin to one of them :)

I got accepted into the Spring Quarter 2010 LPN-RN program. NSCC now gives their LPN students the oppurtunity to go straight into the RN program without reapplying which is awesome! I got in with a 3.9 and 8.1 on my TEAS and full points for working as a CNA. There were 230 applicants when I applied. The North Seattle nursing program is very supportive of their students, they really do want their students to succeed. Also, a lot of their classes are pass/fail so as long as you get above a 77% you get a passing grade which relieves a lot of stress from students so used to the pressure of getting 4.0 on prerequisites. I am very happy with the program so far! :)

Do you know what the average score on the HESI exam is for students admitted into the NSCC LPN program?
