In my experience most of the rn's that were lpn's hat I have worked with seem to have missed out on managerial training and are a little lost when it comes to managing a unit or a care team...How do you teach someone to "think like an RN" ? Good thread.....Originally posted by elisehPlease help me transition LPN's to RN's What was the most difficult aspect of this transition? Thank you from the instructors and the students!
I was an LPN and went back and obtained my RN degree. I really could have used some classes on mgmt and supervisory skills.
There was no mention of these in my RN program. I asked the program director about it. She replied "BSN grads will be the supervisors, not you." (She's famous for her rudeness and being out of touch).
I was a charge nurse as an LPN. Neither my LPN nor my RN educations prepared me to be a charge nurse/supervisor.
I think mgmt skills, problem solving, conflict resolution, and basic charge nurse skills should be included in the curriculum of every RN program.
