Nursing Students LPN-RN

I had a heck of a time finding an LPN to RN program here in Cali. I kept searching and found Hondros in Ohio. It's about 20,000 compared to 68,000 program I found here. It's only 18 months. I'm thinking this is TOO good to be true. I welcome your comments. Does Michigan have any fast track RN schools?

Well, I hate to give you this info but they are not BON certified, which means when you try to take the NCLEX you will not be allowed to because this school has not received their stamp of approval. I was interested as well, but then I saw that they are not accredited. Thats only if you decide to pursue nursing in California. If you relocate you are all good.:)

I am currently located in Cali I was only relocating to Ohio for their program. I'm confused, not Board of Nursing certified??

California is very strict when it comes to licensing and money hungry, as well. They will make uo any excuse as to why you will need to retake things because it is not at standard. What goes on in other states, do not go on in California. Like the Excelsior program does not exist out here because the BON does not accept it. Just do your homework before going to out of state schools if you are planning to come back to California. There are a lot of people being denied ability to take the NCLEX because the out of state program does not meet the requirements of California State Programs.

Now, what you can do is go to their program and take boards there as well then endorse. Again, do your homework, call the board, then determine for yourself. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much. I plan on attending in Ohio and taking the NCLEX in Ohio. One day I might relocate back to Cali but right now it's too expensive. So the board in Ohio does recognize Hondros? Will I be able to take the NCLEX in Ohio after completing the 18 month program there?

Specializes in ICU, step down, dialysis.

I see Hondros College in Westerville OH on the Ohio BON approved list:

I don't know if Hondros has other schools in Ohio, there is a note about this on this link I just posted. Now as for accreditation, I can't answer that. That is something you must check too because if you plan on going any further you may have problems getting admitted to other schools. I know that no school of nursing can legally operate without the Board of Nursing's approval first, and I imagine that is the case for all states.

Thank you. All Hondros Nursing programs ARE approved by the BON. I called them today to verify it. Now my only conflict is the negative comments I've read about the school on this website. It was the 7th school I called and they seemed very nice and helpful. All the other schools I called had red tape to climb through. I hope I am making a right decision. Wish me luck. Thanks again.

I am currently finishing my last term of the LPN program. I personally like the school and have never had any issues with the school. There are some of my classmates that have had a bad experience but nothing that couldnt have been avoided. They are approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing. They do not have NLNAC or CCNE accreditation. This is important for some people who want to work in hospitals that required education from an accredited institution. However, if you continue on to get your BSN online with a school that has CCNE accreditation after finishing Hondros then this accrediation situation will not be a problem. I will be returning to Hondros for my RN and then continuing with indiana weslyan or U of PHX for BSN because they have the CCNE accreditation. I would recommend this school because of the fast paced program. The tuition is a negative but other than that I have no complaints.

Thanks Ashleigh! The tution is a PLUS in my book. The school I was looking at here in Cali wanted 68,000. LOL

Calipsychnurse I start the RN program in July. I've spoken with a few people who either still go there or just finished, the like/liked it. Good luck!!

Forgive me if I've answered twice, I don't know how to navigate through this yet. I am going to the Westerville location

No problem.
