Can someone please tell me all the private LPN schools in the Chicagoland area?

I don't want to wait a few years on a waiting list.

  • PCCTI
  • American Institute
  • J'Renee Facility
  • Northwestern Institute of Health

I was also thinking about LPN and eventually going to RN well before that I have to start and get my CNA so I might be on the last one with 15 grand

i would recommend cmk healthcare institute :)

i've finished my can class there and i'm planning to start with lpn. they are very nice, there are two campuses, and the price for lpn program is $15.000

so yea i am planing to go to a private lpn school and i would also need my cpr certi so i guess it works..........so you would reccomend this school...etc how hard is this school to get in and what about there education? is it good?is there an entrance exam? and do you know how there fin aid works/? if they offer any? or do u pay month by month or somthing

As far as I know, they don’t offer any kind of financial aid. You should ask them, but as I’m not eligible for that I didn’t ask :)

Prerequisites are now Anatomy ($1.000), Terminology ($700) & Pharmacology ($700). Each is about 5 weeks and cool thing is that you can take them simultaneously. Down payment is $2.000 and than you can pay every month $1.200.

I was very satisfied with CNA class and teacher so I hope on LPN will be the same.

If you don’t have maths and English, you can only take their “TABE” test. I don’t know how hard it is, I know that the cost is $50 and it’s only a multiple choice test. I’ll post when I take that test.

You are allowed to transfer prerequisites, I’ll do that with anatomy and terminology. They even may suggest you to take these prereqs on COD or JJC (local Community Colleges) because it’s cheaper :yeah:

yea i am planing to enroll in there LPN program(o yea i am taking CNA at JC so I can get certi before than) in 2 years times. Time for to get my bio classes and pharmacology and terminology(or 1.5 years) so got to save up for Nursing school

when you take the test and maybe got back your scores, can you give me a veiw of how hard is the test or how easy or something to that matter?

In my opinion, everything connected with Community Colleges is wasting of time. Since "the time is money", I've decided not to go to CC because for prereq's you need more than a year, and in private schools you can finish everything in less than 4 months. CNA course at CMK is 4 weeks, and the other 3 subjects are 5 weeks long; anatomy is going simultaneously with terminology (ex. Anatomy is Mon/Wed/Fri and Terminology Tue&Thur) so in the best scenario all prereq's could be done in 3 months. If you take the calculator, you could save a year, and the annual wage for LPNs is more than 40k instead of saving 3k for prereq's.

But, if you think that 4 months is not enough to prepare yourself for LPN class because all these prereq's are too short and fast, than it's definitely better to go to JJC or COD. My case is different, I was dental doctor in Europe, and I'm very familiar with all these things so I took the fastest option 'cause I don't want to waste time working as a CNA.

Hi everyone.Im new to this forum.I finished my cna last month and hopefully i'll take my state exam on oct.Im planning to go for lpn @ northwestern college but i need to take all pre req's since i had 9 years back. But they give me chance to take the exam for all the pre reqs for $25.00/each so if i pass then they will let me go for lpn but if not i should take all the pre reqs for $650/each course for 4-5 weeks i think.Anybody here who took the expired pre reqs and passed @ NW?Any info about NW lpn program? How much the over all cost including pre reqs, books etc.thanks a lot.:)

Hello formerrt,

Are you referring to Northwestern Institute of Health and technology? If so, how much is the LPN program if all prerequisites are completed? Are they NLNAC accredited?

Northwestern Institute - $16.000 without books and all other expenses :) (price from jun)

5 Prereq's - each $650.

I went there few months ago to make inquiry about program, and my first impression was not so nice. They had some unfriendly attitude and at that moment I knew that I'll not go there.

Since I live in CHGO, another school was in game - PCCTI, but I had great experience in CMK - Westmont campus and I'll go there for LPN. Next class begins 01/08/2011 in Westmont campus (Glendale Heights 03/12/2011).

Some LPN's from nursing home where I work, told me that PCCTI (they went to Oak Brook Campus) has terrible staff but the program is good and all people from their class passed the NCLEX-PN.

that is good, well today I went to the gendale heights campus(CMK)and they where happy to answer all my question and explained everything pretty clear; when I did call then they where pretty negligence towards me, but thats a given with ppl calling in looking for info at schools. But when I asked them it went very smoothly, and from what I hear everyone passed and graduated and there NCLEX-PN

I called PCCTI Oak Brook capmus few days ago. They were so rude and negligent towards me and after that call I've decided that I'll definitly go to CMK :)

Everyone should read the thread about PCCTI. Almost anyone gave positive opinion

Cmk personnels are not negligent of people. I know that for sure, because i personally had an experience calling them and inquiring. I know that we might think they are negligent on the phone, but the reason is that they want you to come to their office for them to inquire you clearly of the things you wanted to know. Calling them is ok but dont ask too many questions on the phone because they have a lot of work to do. like say entertaining another person like you which is infront of them. so it is best that we have to go to their office personally and they will alot a great amount of time for us
