Hi all!
I'm in the USAF and am wondering, is there an on line school which I can get my LPN through? I deploy a lot so an in residence class wont be an option here at all. And I haven't found a pure LPN on line school yet either. I don't have a health care background at all except for being a CNA for a brief minute back when I was 17. Thanks, and I'm still looking.

a pure "online" nursing school does not exist, you have to have clinicals, labs, etc.
Right, I knew that. Sorry. That made me look pretty dumb.. I guess I mean a school that will allow me to do the book work and then go to a hospital or comparable place to do the clinicals. I thought Masters programs with nursing had that.. was wondering if anyone knew of a good LPN school that did it. Thanks!
there are "hybrid" lpn programs offered through community colleges and private vocational schools. you attend lecture online, and you have clinicals and labs "x" amount of days a week with their associated clinical sites.
there are many lpn-rn online, and you arrange the clinicals yourself, same for master's programs, but i am not aware of an lpn program that allows this.
Thanks FairyCari. Well I'll still look around, otherwise it's just going to be rando Science class taking.

LPN schools do not operate entirely online because of the requirement for clinical experiences.
Right, I'm looking for a school to do all my book work at. I know I would need to do clinicals somewhere.. maybe a hospital if they do that?
No, you are not going to find a hospital that will just let you walk in to do clinicals. You can get an LPN program where you can do theory classes online, but you will have to go to the school area for clinicals or have the school make an arrangement with a local place to do clinicals. This is the hard part.
Well that kinda sucks.. so I guess I'll just take some biology, chem, anatomy, etc. to try and get ahead. Hopefully they'll transfer.
If you take these classes at a community college, they are more likely to transfer. Most LPN programs at proprietary schools have anatomy, pharm, etc. classes that are integrated into the program and they will not transfer anywhere else. Community college classes in anatomy, micro, etc. can be used for either LPN or RN programs at community colleges so your best move is to take these classes at a cc.
I didn't know that. Thanks for the heads up.
