Hey just wanted to know has anyone done the cma portion then went on to doing to lpn course.what was your gpa when you apply to the lpn portion. Thank you

STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL (IN THE NEW YORK CITY CAMPUS). I am a registered medical assistant/phlebotomist and I have been attending this school for for 2 semesters so far. I was told that after taking ten general pre-requisite classes I could apply to the Lpn program considering good grades and passing the TEAS exam. However, they try to make you stay in the medical assistant program and get certified until you qualify for lpn application. They do not have enough classes to meet student requirements so then you are held back from completing your requirements. I signed a contract with this school stating that I am taking pre-reqs in the medical assistant program to qualify for admission to lpn and when I received my class schedule the dean scheduled me for MA classes! She told me that "by law" I had to take them since I was enrolled in the MA program. She said she didn't know anything about the MA to LPN program and she's the dean of academic affairs at the school! I don't know about the Boston, Albany or Pittsburgh campuses but the NYC campus is taking students for a ride and money! They try to force you to take their CPR course for 8 weeks if you're already certified, too. They will put classes on your schedule you don't need and if you drop them (like CPR) then they claim they don't have anything else for you to take so, according to them, you should keep the classes in order to satisfy your financial aid. I have heard grumbles from both the MA and MA to LPN students. Trust me, you do not want to come to this NYC campus.

8 weeks for a CPR class? thats crazy. How is the program coming along? Are you learning anything? Has it gotten any better?

A couple more questions.. how is the work load? What classes have you taken so far and how did you do? (if you dont mind sharing)

Thanks

Yep...it's exactly the same at the Albany campus. Glad I got out quick.

I start in september and on my paper work they put CMA but they said the CMA portion is for the prerequisites and once i'm done those i can take the TEAS test if i want (and i do because i payed for it with my tuition) and then i'll go directly into LPN if my grades are acceptable enough. They said CMA/prerequesites are 2 semesters long then i go into LPN Depending
