Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Last time I was on this site I had just failed out of LVN school (skills class, nervousness ensued!). Distraught and downtrodden I was in utter disbelief...I had A's/B's in my other classes. How could I have let my nerves get the best of me? Why did I let it get to me? I knew I would have an opportunity to apply for readmission to the program (and was encouraged to do so from my clinical instructor at the time). After 3 months of biding my time, getting affairs in order, and then 2 days recently of busting my butt to get back in, I am officially an LVN student once again!!! My former classmates are super supportive as well as my family and friends who have been cheering me on from the get go! Glad to be back in the game again.

Congrats, and I wish you the best of luck! :w00t:

You now have a heads up that many of us don't. You aren't going in blindly, you know what is expected of you, and will be better prepared this time.

Put your all in all into it and you will succedd. Now if I can only follow my own suggestion once I enter a program.

Thanks Aspiring2Bgreat! I'm sure you can do it! It's very humbling to go back, but if we don't believe in ourselves, who will? Let us know what happens w/ you and your program.

Way to go! I believe perseverance is a very admirable quality. My mantra, just keep swimming swimming swimming! You can do it!

:heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat Happy to hear the good news!

The best way to overcome being nervous in practicums is to be completely prepared. If you have a set of skills to perform then practice. However, practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect. Make sure the person you are practicing with are knowledgeable. I have seen nursing students teaching each other how to perform a skill and doing it wrong. Follow the directions. Practice it until it becomes muscle memory. Practice it until you can do it in your sleep. Then you will look forward to doing the skill because you know you know how to do it.
