New Graduate Resume Help

  1. Hello,
I'm to graduate next month from an RN program here in upstate NY. I'd like to know if any of you can lead me to where I can get help with my resume. I feel like since I'm so close to graduation that I should start preparing my resume so that I can start applying for work. I don't know how to put my resume together...the only medical related experience I have is thru nursing school (clinical rotations)....YOUR HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED....THANKS :uhoh21:

When I graduated in December 04, we actually had a class on assisting us in preparing our portfolio, perhaps you can ask one of your instructors to help you in this.

My school also offered a help session on our resumes offered by the career center, so check there for some help.
I also a new grad (dec 04) and this is what I had on mine:
Eduaction: the college I graduated from (also I was told don't include any other education unless you have a degree)
Next I put my Health Care Experience which for me included past jobs such as CNA and my summer Externship and I also included my preceptorship for my last semester. Example:
Preceptorship, Somewhere Regional Hospital, Somewhere MN September 2004 - December 2005 160 hours working in the role of the registered nurse on a medical/surgical floor.
Next I included nonhealth care related work "Other work experience"
    Finally I included Voulenteer experience.
During my help session they said not to include anything from highschool unless it was really important. And to put things in past tence. Make things simple. Don't use the word "I". Check, double check and triple check for errors, and have a few people proof read it, because when places get many applications, one error can mean the trash can because they don't have time to interview everyone. Make it easy to read. Use only 1 or 2 fonts. Make your contact info easy to find.... I could go on and on! oh yeah.. try to limit it to one page.
