Are they being phased out?

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hi. I am a LPN student. I have a question. Are most LPN's being phased out? Was it hard for you to find a job? Have you heard of this in your work place? A lot of people are telling me this, and I don't know if this is true.

Please answer back with any information you have.

Also, how hard was it in the nursing classes you have taken?

Thanks

There are not many jobs for LPN's where I live, outside of nursing homes. There are some LPN's working in the hospitals, but they have all been there for years and years. The hospitals want to hire RN's. Most of the hospitals even want BSN's. Good luck and I hope that you find your dream job!;)

An alternative perspective:

Rumor has always been LVN/LPN'S are being phased out however since I have become an LVN in 1999, job opportunities have greatly increased.

I think these rumors stem from a desire of universities ( which are a business) to promote their programs- and political nursing organizations to move their agendas- both, rather than standing on their own merit to do so, use the old line "...but they aren't really nurses, are very unsafe, and will be phased out anyways" routine.

Not true so far. LVN's in CA making $36-44k a year. :-))))

Part time in Canada $35K/year. And I work less than a 0.5FTE.
