Hi everyone! I've been an LPN for almost a year. I was never a cna or anything so this is my first time in Health care period. My nursing home is nice, no smell and very clean. Some of the people I work with are great but others not so much. I find that at my facility it's just always something! What I mean by that is the charge nurses and clinical managers are always finding ways to blame us Lpns for whatever goes wrong or whatever errors are made. They literally think we are mindless robots that just give pills. They treat the CNAS more humane than us. I'm just wondering is this just the way it is? I don't have experience anywhere else so I'm not sure? It just seems like everyday I have to prepare myself for a new issue in which I have to defend why it wasn't my fault. There have been times I've been questioned about issues that happened when I wasn't even at work for 3 days? They are more concerned with finding someone to blame than they are with fixing the issue at hand. Not to mention most of the people above me are rude and condescending. How should I deal? Just ignore it or what ?

None of that sounds terribly uncommon. You could try working someplace else and you might get lucky, though.
One thing that jumps out is that you say the CNAs are treated better than you are. Is that their perspective?
I'm actually not sure. I think it would be hard to ask them because they don't see a lot of the nurse to nurse interaction. I think most CNAs feel like they do everything while the RNs sit at the desk and the LPNs just stand there and pass meds. I have a great relationship with the CNAs on my hall but they truly have no idea what the nurses have to deal with. I just feel the management at my job is piss poor. And the assistant DON Is terrible! She is SOOO unprofessional it crazy. She says the most offensive and disrespectful things and I'm pretty hard to offend. She just gets away with it.

Chances are high that you will find relatively the same or worse at the next long term care facility. Stick this one out as long as you can, at least for one year, before you look for greener grass.

Management varies in facilities. When questioned about something that happened when you were not there, just tell them that you did not work that day. They can check the schedule they need to.
