hello,
I am an LPN working in a LTC/sub acute facility. I am also in RN school. The state just arrived at my facility, and I was told I cannot have the day off I requested (tomorrow, Monday) I needed that day off because I have a test in my RN program. I do not know what to do. I need to do well on this test, but I also need this job. Should I just call out and accept the repercussions, or go in and accept not doing as well as I would like on this test, especially with the stress of the state inspection?

Does your work not accommodate your RN school schedule? If they knew in advance your schedule and had granted you the time off, then yes tell them you will not be there.
they did not grant it. I gave them my schedule of days off, and still found myself on the schedule. When I inquired, they said it was not approved because the state is doing their survey. This is not the first time they have not followed the days off I have requested for school. They are not supportive at all of my class schedule, and told me that the job should be a priority over school. I know I am going to have to leave because of this.

Could you convince someone to switch shifts with you given the circumstances? Also, have you talked to the instructor?

^This can be an option; as well as talking to the instructor and taking the test at an arranged time.
Calling out should be the last resort.
