looking for nurse school

The best way I've found to find jobs is to target what you really want. If, for example, you want to work in a hospital, find all the hospitals (just do a search on maps.google.com for something like "hospitals near york, pa" or maps.google.com even "long term care facilities near york, pa") in the area that you're willing to drive to, and look on their websites for job listings. I've seen many more positions listed on individual websites than I've seen on the big search sites. This also works for some LTC facilities if you'd like. If you're open to home health care, a lot of the agencies advertise in the newspapers so they're easy to find.

I'd give more specific places, but I live across the river in Lancaster, so I'm not too familiar with places. I just keep watch on jobs opening up for when I finish nursing school (I haven't started yet, I'm just a HHA).

ok thanks...still looking..

Welcome to York. I am in Dallastown and would think your best bet for hospital care would be either York/Wellspan or York Memorial. Apply at both and wait and see. More likely you will find a spot in one of the area nursing homes right quick. Try Manorcare or any of the nursing homes listed in the phone book. Home health care agencies in the area are also good for PRN, and you can develop some favoured clients that pay well, depending on your abilities and experience. High intervention clients are paying up to $40/hr. VNA is good for work. Anything else you need in the area, lemme know. justashooter(at)aol.

thank for that info. by the way is there any agencies that will hire new graduates... in the york, shrewsbury,or red lion area , you know of .....

Hello again Justashooter, haven't found anything yet, still looking. Do you know any names of LTC nearby Dallastown?

Specializes in geriatrics.

Some of the LTC in the area are: Manor Care, Lutheran Social Services, Pleasant Acres Nursing & Rehab, Colonial Manor. These are all in close proximity to Dallastown and usually hire new grads.
