LPN, what can I do? Grants, Scholarships, or Payment plan

Published

Hello beautiful people. Here's my dilemma. I was recently accepted into a LPN program and will be starting this fall. I am so excited and thankful I was accepted!! Anyway, to make a long story short, I obtained an A.A in psychology in 2014. The pell grant I've had is just about out and I was told it won't cover my tuition, etc. for the LPN program. The school does not accept student loans. :sorry: I did find out yesterday that I received a scholarship, but won't receive details regarding how much until next month. In past, the organization has given women a full ride and a mentor. When I did the research, I realized the scholarship is partnered with a few schools and mine is not on the list. When I speak with the organization's leader again, I am going to ask is it possible to use the scholarship at my school. It won't hurt to ask. .. I currently work, but will be leaving my job since it's during the day and I'll be in school during that time. I have children and plenty of living expenses, so I will be working part time as a CNA. I just doubt that will be enough to pay my own tuition and expenses, on top of living expenses. Worse case scenario I'll work full time and do what I have to. I know I've missed the deadline for a lot of scholarships. It's my own fault, but I haven't lost hope. Any suggestions???

Thank you 203bravo. I wish my school wasn't one of the schools. It's looking like my only option will be pay out of pocket. I believe it'll work out though. I'm starting the program in August regardless.

Good on you -- the sacrifices now will be worth it in the long run.. check with the bursers office and see if they have a payment play and utilize that.

Yes, I'm going to work and pay my way through. I do have family to back me up, so thank God for them. I'm ready to embark on this journey. Super excited!
