Failed LPN program, wanting to apply to different school
Thank you jtboy29!! Sorry for the late response. Hope your exit Hesi went well! How did you go about being a more active learner? I feel like that's one of my weak spots. I agree, getting inspiration from classmates and motivation helped me as well. I am going back, just not this year. I'm refocusing and planning a little better. Like you said, life doesn't stop. Thank you!! I wish you the best with your program as well.

Failed LPN program, wanting to apply to different school
Thank you for your encouraging words thkh3! I definitely won't give up. I'm going to continue to pray about it and work on going back. I'm not at a good place right now financially or emotionally, just different personal things still occurring, so I won't apply this month/year. I am working on refocusing and rededicating myself. I know I'll kick butt once I do go back! Thank you.

Failed LPN program, wanting to apply to different school
Hey everyone! I am looking for advice. I attended GC last semester for the LPN program. It was amazing! The program, in my opinion, is incredible. I just had so many personal and unexpected things happen, my grandmother died, my financial aid was a disaster, I couldn't work to cover my tuition and books or living expenses, and the list goes on. (I hate excuses and was taught to get it done or keep talking about it) .. I just wasn't able to focus and do as best I could, so I ended the semester with a 79.2% -- rounded 79% and needed at least 79.5%--rounds to 80% .. I was devastated. The last couple months have been, indescribable. To have been accepted into the program and actually pursuing my dream was surreal and then to blow it broke my spirit. I thought about reapplying before the deadline, but I was fearful even though deep down that's what I want and need to do. I found another school I can still apply to before the deadline but I'm super worried. How do I go about applying if I failed at another school in the same program?? How can I prove I am worthy if I failed? I wouldn't mind interviewing or writing an essay, etc. .. I know I can pass. The exams were difficult, but I couldn't study like I needed to and in the end, that's why I failed. I don't want to give up! If all else fails, I can reapply to GC next spring for fall 2018, but if possible, I want to attend school this year. Any advice???

A little overwhelmed before LPN program starts (Gaston College)
That's so funny you posted this. I feel the same way! I keep thinking "how am I going to make it through this year??" I had planned on only working the weekends, but my bills are saying otherwise. I have a fiance' and my mother to help, but my entire family is in Louisiana. (Which adds insult to injury because it's flooding so bad there, so we've been trying to help them from the distance too.) I also have a 5 and 2 year old. .. I'm trying to remain inspired and keep motivating myself. I pray more than anything. I just want it all to work out.

LPN, what can I do? Grants, Scholarships, or Payment plan
Yes, I'm going to work and pay my way through. I do have family to back me up, so thank God for them. I'm ready to embark on this journey. Super excited!

LPN, what can I do? Grants, Scholarships, or Payment plan
Thank you 203bravo. I wish my school wasn't one of the schools. It's looking like my only option will be pay out of pocket. I believe it'll work out though. I'm starting the program in August regardless.

LPN, what can I do? Grants, Scholarships, or Payment plan
I know for a fact GC doesn't accept student loans. I've confirmed it 3 times. I was saying I think because I'm referring to NC as a whole. The Charlotte and surrounding area comm colleges no longer accept student loans. You can pay by grants, scholarships or out of pocket.

LPN, what can I do? Grants, Scholarships, or Payment plan
I believe NC's comm colleges banned student loans. I heard something about it about a year ago. They wanted to cut back on debt. I think that should be the student's decision, especially since we are the ones who sign the documents, etc. It's frustrating because I can receive the loans but the school doesn't accept them. It puts me a tight position. I haven't had much luck finding any other scholarship(s).

LPN, what can I do? Grants, Scholarships, or Payment plan
Smartiipants, I was accepted to Gaston College LPN program for this fall. I have also applied for tuition reimbursement through CHS. It takes 10 business days to process, so I'm waiting to see if I'll get approved for that.

LPN, what can I do? Grants, Scholarships, or Payment plan
JustBeachyNurse, I did reach out to the financial aid person and she stated I can look online for scholarships. The ones offered from the school, I missed the deadline for. I should've been proactive but wasn't thinking. They do have payment plans. I have to get more details about it. I'm just concerned about working and being able to pay tuition and fees, and living expenses. I also want to be successful as possible in the program.

LPN, what can I do? Grants, Scholarships, or Payment plan
Hi jsfarri, after taxes I make 27k. I called WIA yesterday and I was told to come to orientation and see if it can work for me. í ½í¸” I was qualified for it before but at the time I was a single mom and my daughter was 1. I wasn't accepted into nursing school that year and then I started working.

LPN, what can I do? Grants, Scholarships, or Payment plan
Hello beautiful people. Here's my dilemma. I was recently accepted into a LPN program and will be starting this fall. I am so excited and thankful I was accepted!! Anyway, to make a long story short, I obtained an A.A in psychology in 2014. The pell grant I've had is just about out and I was told it won't cover my tuition, etc. for the LPN program. The school does not accept student loans. I did find out yesterday that I received a scholarship, but won't receive details regarding how much until next month. In past, the organization has given women a full ride and a mentor. When I did the research, I realized the scholarship is partnered with a few schools and mine is not on the list. When I speak with the organization's leader again, I am going to ask is it possible to use the scholarship at my school. It won't hurt to ask. .. I currently work, but will be leaving my job since it's during the day and I'll be in school during that time. I have children and plenty of living expenses, so I will be working part time as a CNA. I just doubt that will be enough to pay my own tuition and expenses, on top of living expenses. Worse case scenario I'll work full time and do what I have to. I know I've missed the deadline for a lot of scholarships. It's my own fault, but I haven't lost hope. Any suggestions???
