LPN to ADRN question

I am wanting to go back and get my RN, I have been sent numerous information on getting my RN from online schools. I am wondering if anyone has done the Distance Learning System with Excelsior, and how happy you were with it.

I can not afford to quit my job and I really don't want to lose my place here, I work for the Department of Health and Human Services, so I'd like to retire from here either as an LPN or an RN.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, go directly through Excelsior. DSLI is just a really expensive tutoring company. Don't sign a contract with anyone. Go directly to excelsior :)

As I just posted to another AN member, go for it. I am working as a medic today and was at a hospital. Ran into some nursing students from gwennyd mercy colleges ADN program. I asked them what the tuition was , she told me 33k a year. I almost passed out. Compared to what excelsior costs I really don't think it's that much of a decision.

Tutoring companies typically slow students down. If you're going to spend the extra money, spend it on EC and do the courses, which you can apply for financial aid for.

Also, I wouldn't expect to be done in a year. The current CPNE wait time is averaging 9-12 months. Once you complete all the nursing theory classes, you have to take the 8 week FCCAs, and then you apply to get in the waiting line for CPNE.

I'm a proud EC grad, and I love their program so I'm not trying to discourage you, but if you're thinking done with theory exams in a year, plan on being done with the program in about 2 years.
