Hi! I noticed there is no thread yet for Spring 2014 applicants for LUC's accelerated BSN program! Figured I could get the ball rolling and we can discuss applications/apartments/classes etc.
A little about me--I graduated in 2012 from LUC with a degree in Advertising/PR. I did my pre-reqs at Oakton CC and Truman CC. undergrad GPA was 3.54, prereq GPA was about 3.75 or 3.8 I think! I got my application completed around Sept 15th and got my acceptance on Oct 1st! I also got in to DePaul and am waiting to hear from University of Miami, but most likely I will go with Loyola! Any other students lurking around here?
Where is everyone planning to live too? I currently live in Lakeview but I believe we have to be in Maywood four days a week first semester. I am thinking about moving to downtown Oak Park before school starts up.

Hello Natalie! Very nice to meet u, and congrats on your acceptance:-)! I received my acceptance very quickly as well, and am very excited about starting the program! I live in Michigan currently, but had the opportunity to visit the campus about six wks ago, and fell in love:-)! I noticed that u said u went to Loyola for undergrad and was wondering what your experience had been with Loyola as an actual student? In terms of where I will be living, I was thinking about Oak Park as well. Will be visiting again in November, early Dec to look at places.
Hey! I loved Loyola as an undergrad student--hence why I am going back! I really felt a good connection with all of my professors and it was a very hand-on, personal experience, plus Loyola had a TON to offer (study abroad, recreation, location, etc). I think the experience at the Maywood campus will be quite a bit different since we are so far away from the main campus, but I am hoping there will still be activities and groups to join! I am attending the Nov 12th info session so I am hoping to get answers about that.
I just went out to Oak Park with my boyfriend this weekend to check out the neighborhoods and apartments. It seemed very fun and safe, and there are a surprising amount of good bars/cafes/restaurants/shops! I'm looking in the avenue shops area and the downtown area (near the green line) and I think I will be able to find a nice 1 bedroom or even 2 bed place for under $1200! There are a lot that are even cheaper (under $1000) but I have a dog and a car so that limits my options :)
One tip I would suggest for when you start looking is don't live too far east in Oak Park--the next neighborbood east is Austin which is fairly sketchy and has much higher crime rates than Oak Park!

I'm a current Loyola Nursing Student for undergrad. It's tough but I personally feel that Loyola has the best doctors and nurses. The new Maywood campus is great.
I'm sure you'll love it. Best of luck.
Yeah, I figured u loved it since u were going back, but moreso wanted specifics regarding what u liked about it. Thanks for expounding! And ok, will definitely check in to the areas u mentioned, and stay away from Austin.

Hello!
Did you guys find out via the admissions website, mail, or by email? I was just curious because I also applied for the spring 2014 cohort in the beginning of October and I haven't heard back yet. I'm getting anxious! I hope all the spots aren't filled yet..
I found out via mail, i think my application was complete around Sept 15. Letter was dated Sept 28th and I got it on Oct 1st. Remember though that the later you applied, the longer it will take to find out since they have more applications! Definitely not necessarily a bad sign that you haven't heard yet.
I received an email from an academic advisor today and found out I got accepted! Can't wait to meet you all!
Congratulations, gna11:-)!!!! Can't wait to meet everyone too!
And thank u, endji:-)!!! Nice to hear about the program from an actual nursing student perspective! Getting excited!
