Lower wait list time near Cleveland?

Hello everyone,

In January, I started at LCCC for my ADN. I plan on going on up to a Master's level, and frankly, I am getting impatient. My school has a rather long wait list for clinicals, since it does not require very much to get into. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about where I could transfer to with a shorter than 1 year wait list. I have already taken Chem, A&P1, Psych, Human Growth and Development, Stats, and English. This upcoming semester I will finish A&P2, Micro and Sociology, leaving only clinicals to finish my ADN. I have a 3.7 GPA, and will not have any issue passing entrance exams.

So, given approximately a 1 hour drive max, whats a decent school for clinicals? Preferably one that doesn't just go off of first come first serve.

You are pretty much going to be SOL on the 2 year ADN/Diploma programs. Most if not all of the ones worth doing are wait list based. Your best bet to start ASAP is at one of the 4 year programs ie CSU, CWRU, or Notre Dame College.

I don't mind a wait list so much as it being solely/mostly based on first come first serve. Figured there wouldn't be very many options outside of just waiting, but it doesn't hurt to ask. LCCC has the partnership program up to a master's level through Akron, with everything except specialization being done at LCCC, at around 1/3rd of the price of going to down Akron.

Yeah it's unfortunate that most if not all two year ADN/diploma programs are first come first serve and not merit based, but . . .

Hi there. I am on the same boat. I'm an LPN just waiting to get into the LPN to RN Access program. I do wish G.P.A. played a role in who gets accepted and when. The frustrating thing is I can't even get an idea of when I'll be accepted. I am still holding out for Jan. but we'll see. I have an appointed at Ursuline this week, I went there out of High School and completed many prerequs. that did transfer over to LCC. It's just frustrating! Hang in there and I'll try and do the same!

Yea, there are wait lists everywhere. It really sucks, but I guess just wait it out. It is frustrating that none of the schools tell you when you are going to get in!:mad:

Well Tri-C lets you know when you are in usually a few weeks after you complete the necessary paperwork and such. Problem is the current "start date" for a student that applied today is Fall of 2011.

ghiggins - yeah, the wait is long at lccc. I've been waiting since August 2009 and have all my classes complete. I saw the actual nursing counselor, and not just an advisor in enrollment services in March of 2010 and he told me that my chance for Spring 2011 (which is what enrollment services said was a near guarantee if I finished all my classes in summer 2010) was a slim to none chance and that fall 2011 was not even a guarantee. :( When I spoke with him, they'd just sent out letters to the fall class. They accept 120 per semester and there were 275 people on the list who were done with all their classes. And that's how they rank, based upon when you signed up for the nursing program. Then they pull everyone aside that is finished with classes, make sure they've met the gpa requirement and go down the list.
