Depends on what you define as "low" and if the school requires any supplementary application (i.e., experience, resume). If your GPA is below the minimum cutoff they will not look at your application. Well, that's what I've been told by someone I know who works on the admissions committee. If your GPA is slightly above the cutoff you can still get in if you have tons of experience and knock them away from your supplemental application. You can take extra courses to upgrade your GPA.
Well my nursing school now is requiring for you to take an entry exam. If you do well on the entry exam then you should be fine. But it also depends on how low your gpa is in order for them to accept you. Don't be discouraged. I would definitely call around and ask for their requiremenets.
I think you should talk with counselors. They will help you find a way to improve your GPA. For example, some schools require COMM course as Interpersonal communication or Public speech etc.... If you get low grade on Public speech, you can improve ur grade by taking Interpersonal comm. class to substitute for Public speech.
