I have 3.6 gpa in all my general education requirements . I went to a hbcu where I had to take things like African diaspora and other things that will not go toward a degree unless I graduate from that school.I dropped out and did not officially withdraw so I have a Fs and Ds. I now attend a community college where all that stuff does not transfer and my GPA is 3.6 but a university it becomes a part of my cumulative Gpa which is a 2.4. I applied to university of Memphis, did well on my TEAS but because of my cumulative Gpa they could not proceed with my application. Can someone point me in the right direction? Should I go back to the HBCU and retake those classes ?

Looks like you shot yourself in the foot on that. The only way to improve it is to retake them or find a place to accept you with the low GPA.Good luck, I do wish you well.

Not all schools allow a re-take to erase the original grade.

I'm not sure of your options in Tennessee, but I'm in a similar pickle in New York. Some accelerated programs are holistic which doesn't just look a particular gpas, but the candidate as a whole. Then you can look into generic nursing programs which may not be as fast but your previous gpa at your hbu wouldn't hurt as much or you can look into 2 year programs then once your done do the bridge program from associates to bachelors which probably would save you some dollars although not a bachelors. Good luck
