I had a long-haired white female named Cotton and a short-haired male named Cody. I had them for 17 years. Recently we just moved and we tried to find a place where we could have pets, but could not find one and I had to make a choice of having a place for my children to live or keeping my cats. I tried to find someone to keep them until we got somewhere where I could have them, but because they were so old and set in their ways, no one would keep them. They were my best friends, and I had to put them to sleep. This was two months ago and I still cry myself to sleep every nite over them.
Cotton saved my life about a year ago, I had a surgery done and got septicemia from it. She knew it and would not leave my side. On the nite that I believe I would have died, she would not stop meowing at my husband, who was asleep, until he woke up and saw that I was hemoraging. She normally never meowed. I love her soooo much and miss her more than anyone could ever imagine. She was always my shoulder to lean on. My sister got me a stuffed cat that looks similar to her, but Cotton had a small freckle on her nose (yes, a freckle!) and this stuffed cat does not have that. I wish I could take it back, having her put to sleep, I would live in a tent to keep her----I just hope she forgives me for it.
