Louisville vs Lexington

Published

: Could anyone please tell me the main differences, attributes between these two wonderful places. My family wants to relocate to Kentucky and both of these areas look great. I work in psych. and would welcome any comments re: employment in either of these places. Our main concerns are education and a good place for our children. We have seen the beautiful homes in both cities and can't believe the value. We are currently in the 'Great Northwest' but Kentucky looks like just what we are looking for. Thanks!

lol graves...I would really like to move closer to home. When you live in Lexington, you either go to Louisville or Cincinnati for the "real stuff to do". I love to visit them, but I'm not sure if I want to live in them. Same thing where I am now, I liked to visit, but living here is totally different. Are you seriously considering Louisville?

I've lived in Lexington all my life, and I like the way it's laid out. It has almost everything you would have in a big city, but it's spread out. I can't believe anyone would say there isn't a night life here - maybe you are going to the wrong places? I have fun every time I go out, and there are plenty of different types of places to go - everything from gay bars with drag shows to dance clubs to holes in the walls to sip beer to country bars to college bars to sports bars to upscale places with stricter age requirements.

I'm also extremely liberal and there is a large liberal base in Lexington. To say that either of them is conservative compared to the rest of the country is a given, but certainly Louisville and Lexington are always the blue spots on the map compared to the rest of the state.

Louisville is too industrial for me personally, and the city in general when I have been looks run down compared to Lexington.

Youre right about that, when I watched the elections this year both Fayette and Jefferson were blue, and Lexington almost always has a blue mayor. I guess what I mean concerning something to do is that I'm referencing venues, events etc. Any city can have a plethora of bars but what else is there to do? lol, let me know you where u go and I'll check it out when I come home for xmas! lol
