It is hard, but honestly, I didn't thing it was any worse than the other semesters, just different, much like peds and MH were different from NAC I. If you made it through the other semesters, you can make it through NAC II.

SCPC,

How is NACII going? I will be in NACII in the fall. Do you have any tips for me to prepare for it over the summer? I was planning to review my NACI notes and take an EKG class and and ALS class and I'n trying to get a nurse tech job for the summer. Knowing what you know now, is there anything else that would help? I have a 2 year old so I never seem to have enough time to study so I usually need to get a head start prior to each semester. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Su-

A bunch of us in my class took the Hurst Review prior to starting NAC II. I personally found it VERY helpful in bringing into focus what you learned in NAC I and what you will be learning in NAC II. I know it is expensive, but well worth the money; just look at it as a school expense like a text book or lab fee. Nice part is, once you pay the registration fee, you can attend as many of the reviews as you want. In addition to taking it just before NAC II I took it immediately before taking the NCLEX

Jabroadwater,

Thanks for the tip. I was thinking about taking the Hurst Review this summer. You are the second person that recommended this.

Oh yeah, Take Hurst, it definately helped me with Boards. I graduated in December from Charity and I wished I would have taken the Hurst review before my last semester. Hurst was like a Light bulb moment for me. good Luck

Thanks JP,

By the way, have you found an RN job? If so, about how many applications did you fill out? Do you have any suggestions for me and the other new grads regarding the job hunt like which hospitals seem to be more new grad friendly, etc).

@su.....well i took both hurst and kaplan & i must say that both of them were great but kaplan was a mirror image of nclex. hurst is good to take before u start nac II because it breaks down the info. but nclex is NOT like hurst or any test in school. its very hard to describe the nclex test questions. but kaplan has it down ;) they even teach u about certain rules that nclex hv that maybe helpful to u. kaplan also gives discounts to charity students u just hv to ask for it. and as far as the job hunt, it is NOT going well at all  . many many many of us who graduated in dec still do not hv jobs. i hv applied EVERYWHERE with not so much as a phone call :banghead:

Nolamom,

Thanks for the tip on Kaplan --especially the discount. I will definately pass that on to my friends at CHS.

Sorry to hear about the job search. It seems like its taking a lot of new grads at least 4 - 7 months to find something. As always, keep us up to date.
