lost another friend and family member today

I am officially down to one friend, my husband and my mother and father.

One of my family members seemed disgusted with me because my only topic of choice is NURSING....oh well. Life goes on....:roll

Have you lost any friends/family because your life is consumed with nursing classes and they seem jealous/neglected, etc?

Would anyone like to talk about the surgery channel?:roll

I know what you mean about being obsessed and not relating well with others. I have a hard time finding something else to talk about besides nursing. Luckily my husband and parents are very supportive.

I love watching the Health Network and the Learning Channel when they have medical shows on. I especially like Doctor's Diaries, Maternity Ward and Trauma, Life in the ER. These are taped in real hosptials and show actual deliveries, surgeries and medical procedures.

I didn't know there was a channel that had surgeries 24/7. I don't think we get that, too bad.

I guess we can have a virtual support group for nursing students who have run off all their friends!

Khm I complained about my lumbar area to my DH (go get that long waited massage from him) - he flipped on me.... that's why I AM HERE. To "talk" about things that matter to me that noone else wants to talk about.

A niece. We find we don't have much in common anymore. There may be a jealousy issue. Or maybe it's me who doesn't fit into her world. It's hard to say.

My husband's family thinks I'm antisocial. I get cracks like "see you next Christmas". They just don't get it, my weekends are spent studying, preparing papers and assignments, doing clinical paperwork and it's nice to get a little sleep too! I don't have time to run over to every family function. I also work and have a house and two teenagers. I try to blow it off, but their comments do annoy me now and then. I feel like there's not much support, getting cracks about "specializing in enemas someday."

I think the only people who can truly understand what we are going through are our fellow students. I have found that there are alot of jealous people out there. Every time someone asks me what I am going to school for, I get a roll of the eyes and "oh they make a lot of money". My husband and children are very understanding, thank goodness, and as fas as anyone else, I don't care what they think. I am doing this for me and my family. Since I have been in school, my husband's brother and his wife act like I have the plague or something. But I know his brother well enough to know that it is all because he is jealous and can't stand the idea that his "little" brother's wife will be making three times as much as his wife makes at her current job. It is really sad. Instead of being happy for us, they can't stand it. How brotherly is that??

THANK GODDDDDDDDD I am not the only one.

I see the green eye monster coming out from time to time, and I ignore it. If they don't want to be around me, then fine. It's just one less aggravating person I have to deal with.

I am going to talk meds/nursing until the day I die...SO LIVE WITH IT.

At least I am not a Funeral home director like my girlfriend. Her every waking moment is to find out..'who has the body'...hehehehe

When everyone was at the skating rink, when I was young...we went to her family's funeral home to hang out on Saturday nights.

So I am a born weirdo...comes natural.
