I'm also an LAVC returning student and I will apply to the nursing program in April of 2010. I hear the competition to get in is tough so I'll be applying to a few colleges, including Cal State LA. My favorite college of all time has to be Mount St. Mary's and I'll be applying for their 2 year program as well. The sad thing is, I don't know if I can afford it. If I can get scholarships and grants, then forget about LAVC. But I'm glad to be back at LAVC. here's the link for more info: http://www.lavc.edu/VocEd1/VENursing/Nursing.html

i am a lavc student!! i have recently applied to the rn program, and i am currently awaiting to hear from them. i also applied to glendale community college, pasadena, moorpark, college of the canyons, and lastly, csla. my gpa is 3.9 overall and 4.0 in all my sciences. i scored 85 on my teas, too. there are so many qualifed applicants that it boils down to lottery system.
anyways, if you are thinking of applying to csla, remember that there is only one application pool for the entire year. applications are due on december 1, 2009. here is a link for more info:

Hi bookwormjoy! does valley have a good nursing program? I applied to: lavc, pasadena, lacc and glendale.
Thank you..
Hello mamomi!! According to NCLEX pass rates, it would stand to reason that these schools are pretty good. I am partial to Valley because I have been going there for all my prerequisites. Honestly, I feel that we are all swimming upstream trying to get into a program because of the number of people trying to get in. For example, Glendale has only a total of 40 seats open for their evening/weekend and standard program combined...and approximately 500 people applied. It seems so daunting!! But it can be done!!

I live in Sherman Oaks and currently am doing distance education online for Barstow Community College. Starting in LAVC's winter session, I will be taking all the stuff that requires labs and such there. Hopefully I will get everything done in time to to apply for their ADN program by Spring 2013. I have a journey ahead of me yet.
Did anyone end up getting into their nursing program?
