Has anyone applied (or planning on applying) to the RN program at LAHC college? Is there a waitlist that you know of? Any comments, tips, or general info on this school is much appreciated.
Thanks!

Thanks berdail and again to you yginay. It has been intense these las two weeks. I'm still feeling overwhelmed but i am happy for all of the input and advice you have given to me. I'm doing my clinicals at LCOM so i guess i will learn about paper charting first =0 We are having our first exam tomorrow and i'm nervous but i'm just ready to get it over with really lol. I am used to getting A's so this exam may be a real eye opener but we shall see. I'm dedicated to this and i hope i can make it all the way through. Thanks again for all the advice and such, i hope to continue to look to ya'll for advice and a little insight.
No worries. And no they dont require you to be one, they dont look at that. Just make sure to get your application package in on time and that u dont have more than one pre-req repeated and the minimum gpa. Take the highly recommened courses if you can, I believe its like 301a,b&c and dosage calc If you have all of their requirements and turn it in on time, then its all lottery after that. If you happen to get picked to take the TEAS, make sure to do some reading up and practice questions and do the best that you can (you have to pass it to be accepted). Again goodluck =)
Thankyou I just spoke to them.. But I Don't know what psych 1 and psych 41 are.. I attend antelope valley college and we only need to take psych 101 which is general psychology.. So I left a message for the counselor and I guess they will be callin me back. Hopefully thy psych can deal with the two psych classes required .. :/
If you have taken or are currently taking Psych 101 at your other school, it should transfer over and satisfy the Psych 1 req for Harbor. I took Psych 101 back when I got my Bachelor's degree and all I had to do is petition the Dept at Harbor. Filled out a brief form and submit it w/ copy of transcript and about 2 weeks later they approved the credits. Psych 41 I took as an online course at Harbor. It was pretty good, just need to be sure you stay on top of the weekly assignments and forum feedback. The Lifespan (41) actually comes in pretty handy because now that I am in the Harbor nursing program, we use alot of the principles and stages of development in writing age appropriate care plans and for the psychosocial aspects of Health & Assessment forms. Anyway, hope that helps and good luck :twocents:
thankyou both for the posts.. that site is kind of hard to navigate... or maybe im just used to avc website.. =0 well then i guess ill need to take the pysch lifespan.. i dont understand why some schools require different classes.. kind of fustrating.. thanks again. i guess that class is required for that school.. idk if i want to take another class...=/ but i dont want to wait a long time on the wating list either.. lol
Couple of questions for those already in LAHC RN program -
Did you get in the first time you applied?
- do you really think it's a lotto system ?
What is your guess on when we should be hearing if we are invited to take the TEAS ?
How much advance notice do you get between an e-mail and the TEAS test date?

-2nd time: I got in to Fall 2010 class, number was not pulled 1st try for Spring 2010
-It is a double lotto system and yes it is real. Lotto for TEAS spot --> Pass TEAS, 2nd lotto for spot in class because they give out more invites for test than actual class spots available. Have to consider some won't pass I guess.
-I got my TEAS Invitation on 5/17/2010
-TEAS was being given on 2 dates, 5/21 and 5/28 I took it the 21st
-I was given a letter of invitation to join the incoming Fall class on 6/1/ 2010
Feels like you wait forever, but when it finally starts happening, it all comes at you pretty fast.
Good luck and on a positive note, class sizes are increasing. Mine was a small one, 40...this current one that just entered is sixty-something
