Los Angeles County School of Nursing Fall 2017

Published

Hey, is there anyone who applied for Fall 2017 admission to LA County? Have you guys heard any news? has anyone called you? What are your thoughts?

Honestly stop calling them please. You guys already know the acceptabce letters are coming either this week or the next week of june. Theres no point in calling them.

I'm surprised they told someone here the status of their application which is pretty cool though.

Most of the theeads I've been reading here have been notified June 2nd or next week.

And I wouldn't reccomend doing a tripod video recording...I wouldnt think they allow that unless they accept tape recorders.

Don't worry guys..just do something to pass the time..like watch Hulu/Showtime...the days will seem like hours and soon you'll be getting ready to buy your textbooks and call people to tell them the good news...and if you don't get in, it's fine... Retake a course, and write a letter to let them know how interested you are in the program and why you think it's better than any other nursing school..I did that and I think it helps. Im happy that I have an apartment, a 4k TV, air condition, a PS4, a job and I can eat whatever I want. Most of you have that, too. There's 1 billion people in the slums who don't. So if I don't get in, I'll still be happy. :)

Talk to you when the letters are sent out!

This thread is getting so funny! We are all anxious to hear back so let's all keep our cool :)

Yeah, im going bowling then I'm gonna get a swedish deep tissue massage and body scrub

Gosh, some people...she's been following me and posting on every thread i say something on. Hope she doesn't follow me there, too.

LOL! This is too funny. I wish I can meet you all!

I suggested everyone to stop calling including myself. It is tempting to call them I admit myself, but I don't because they'll be sending out the notifications.

My one pre-req isn't part of the county or community college. Its for for some csu who have 5 yr expiration. Mine is still fine for now. County the pre req expire in 7 yrs for everyones fyi.

And despite everything I still hope everyone gets in.

I just said tripods may not be the best but a tape recorder is a great tool. Some professors let you record and some do not. Simplay be careful because I've seen a student get caught being tape recording the teacher when she stated not to record her.

Would you please share with us which videos helped you with the dosage calculations? I am also a visual learner and Youtube definitely helps!

Look up: HCCMathHelp and follow him on Youtube. He makes everything simple; it really helped me. He goes from the basics (converting and such) to calculating doses based on pt weight and IV drip rates. Hopefully his name won't be deleted, but if it is, message me so I can give it to you. Let me know if you have any other questions :)

First, I just listen and I ask questions to actively learn and engage the material (which annoys some professors and students) but I always get the highest mark or one of the highest.. I also take notes on what I asked a question about, things I don't know or understand and things that are important. I record the lecture on video while doing this. Then I watch the lecture again on video and make flash cards out of the lecture, my notes, the textbook and the professor's notes if he has any. Then I quiz myself up until the test starts.

Those are good tips my friend; thank you. I would've loved to be able to videotape some of the lectures while taking the prereqs, but none of my professors allowed us to videotape. They'd allow recording, but that was about it. I did take advantage of that while taking Physio and it did help, but not as much as watching videos on khan academy and crash course. The one thing that helped me the most was the fact that I was blessed with awesome classmates; some would take the time to put up some of the hardest concepts into quizlet and would pass the link to the class so we could all test ourselves from anywhere. That being the reason why I got an A in the class, I owe it to my awesome classmates. Looking forward to attending lecture with you all smart peeps; can't wait!

I am too! I also learn better hands on. So working directly with patients (as I've worked in the past) will definitely help me retain info. better. I also have to literally write everything down and I record (if allowed) lectures. I usually play them back while I'm driving. I also make flashcards sometimes and make up my own quizzes. I'm just scared of the program because I've heard the tests are nothing like we're used to taking like the pre reqs.

VNLaura Thank you! I'll definitely check this website out!!

Hey, on the teas score report, it said percentile national and adn program. What's adn program? LA county or all adn programs?

Lol you don't even know my stats.

I wasn't even being offensive. I suggested everyone to stop calling including myself. It is tempting to call them I admit myself, but I don't because they'll be sending out the notifications.

I don't care. My heart is blacker than the children of Thomas Jefferson.
