Any one here graduates of the program? Or are in the program?

To all LVN-RN prospective student out there: I was just contacted by Los Angeles City College, they are trying to put together a LVN-RN cohort for summer. This is a two semester course. They want to start the bridge program soon. I will be meeting with them tomorrow. I took most of my prereqs there and had spoken to them last year about interest in LVN to RN programme and had presented my transcripts. Please go there with copies of your transcripts, and they will take it from there. I would prefer to go to County, but at least I now have a choice.

Hi Studionurse,

Thank you for the heads up, I'm going to call LA City College first thing tomorrow. I wish I could go in person, but I have to work all day and I'm covering for 2 people tomorrow so there is no hope of getting out early.

Did they offer you a spot for summer? Let me know what you find out tomorrow.

Thanks Studionurse! I feel the same way you feel, would rather go to County... but I'm right at that cutoff so if I don't make it I need to have a backup plan.

Lacc will be having an information session on April 25, 2012. This is for prospective students for their LVN-RN course.

You're AMAZING and thanks do much for sharing the info. This morning after reading your post and confirmed. I went there this afternoon and spoke with them in the office. I even met the the professor who would be my teacher in 3rd semester. She was very nice and she characterized herself as strict, but fair. Anywho. I turned in copies of my transcripts and was prepared to turn in the rest of the requirements (I brought them since I was told to and that'd I'd be able to fill out an application today) unfortunately that didn't happen. They took my transcripts and told me to come to the information session next week. I asked if they were 100% the program would take place. She said know but there's a really good chance. The reason why things are so last minute is bcuz they just got the grant needed to have the bridge program. She said they hope to accept about 25 LVN's they also said letters would go out on May 18th and that the bridge program would start when summer school does and I think that's June 11th (whew NO break) I graduate June 6th. Anywho that's all I know for now. I hope this helps someone and best of luck to us all!

Lavender Butterfly- Thanks for the additional information. I called LA City College this morning and they asked me to come in on Monday with all of my paperwork. It was very difficult for me to get the afternoon off of work on Monday. Now I am scared that after I get there, they may just tell me to come back on Wednesday. I will let everyone know if I find out anything else on Monday.

So how'd it go?

It went ok, we mostly got the same information. I turned in my transcripts and all of my paperwork. They said that a counselor would review all my stuff and call me to let me know if I have the correct requirements for the program. I know all of the sciences and my other classes are good, but i don't know about the math requirement.

I have to go to mandatory information session on Wednesday too. I just hope I hear from the counselor about the math before Wednesday. I would hate to make up an excuse to get out of work early and then find out I can't even apply!

The woman I was speaking to said that they have done these Lvn-Rn bridges in the past when they have enough Lvn's to fill the spots. She said more people seem to be applying this year, so there should be enough for the summer class.

I called County just now, I was told the letters will go out the 1st week of May. Now I am dying because I will be out of town for that entire week. She asked my last name and I told her, she could tell me my first name, so I am hoping she was looking on the list and that's how she came up with the rest of my name....however I may be the only one with that last name...damn, I am dying slowly but surely.

Oh no, now it's the first week of May?!? I called last week, and was told they would go out this week.

Studionurse- that sucks that you will be gone all week! Do you have anyone who can check your mail for you?

It sucks that I will be away, Lovetosleep, I don't have anyone to check my mail. My husband and I will be travelling....damn. Lovetosleep, are you suppose to attend the info session at LACC today at 4pm. ?

I was called yesterday and told to attend today as well...and take copies to the office before I attend the meeting.
