Any one here graduates of the program? Or are in the program?
I haven't heard back from LA County RN program either, let's keep this thread going, I can't wait to hear from people. I was denied by all the programs i've applied to so far, but from what I hear, many people aren't getting into nursing upon the first time applying. I want to do all I can to increase my points if I don't get in this time. It takes so long for a response compared to other schools.
The waiting bites, but I called the other day and they told me that they are "getting close" and the decisions will be sent out in June. How many points do you have?

I'm at 77 points. I know the cut off last year was higher. My plan for reapplying: retake anatomy and english to get two A's instead of the B and C I got. That's the only way I can maximize my score in the shortest amount of time.
The June notification doesn't surprise me. I was just wondering if anyone at all has heard acceptance from them now for fall '11
I was at 77 points when I applied last Fall, for the Spring 2011 term. I was short by 3 points. The cutoff was 80 at that time. I am now at 84 points, because I took speech and sociology and got A's, and I also was given an additional point for being a second time applicant. I just hope the cutoff isn't higher than 84. I think your plan to retake anat/English is a good one. Good luck to you, and please let me know if you hear anything at all!
I followed this thread all the way through and I hope it can keep going so we can all start hearing what the cut-off points are, etc. I heard the cut-off last semester was 80 and I have a (nail-biting) 81 points this semester. Next semester I'll have 87 because I'll have taken two classes that I'm currently getting A's in and one extra point for having already applied once. But this semester...Ugh. I just am having such a hard time waiting. (I wish they wouldn't have posted that May 15th was the date they'd start sending out letters. Clearly it isn't that early, normally.) I can't believe it's become this extremely competitive. Clearly there are a lot of us wanting to go into nursing school, but this many got straight A's in pre-reqs and HIGHER than 75% on the TEAS V? It tells you how high the caliber of students is going to be in the class, for sure! Best of luck to everyone.
Hello Future Nurses,
I called county and the woman that answered said letters will be sent out by the second week of June, lol! than a friend of mine called later that same day and some different lady said they were send out the letters by the end of May. Who to believe, I DON'T KNOW! It's a public school, directly under the la county so I am not surprise everyone its on a different page! But I am not giving my hopes up!!!
Hope to see you all in nursing school.
Good Luck future Nurses!!!!
Hello, guys.
I am also waiting for an answer and had not received a letter yet. It is taking some time. You would think their system makes it easy to select the top people according to their points. However, hundreds of prospectives are applying each time. The last TEAS V test was assigned at the beginning of April, so that is probably when they started to access the rest of the qualifying applicants.
Another thing I want to mention: how could the cut off be 80 or near that? What if, for example, over a hundred people have 80? Then how will they narrow it down when they are only accepting a few (is it 50)?

That's a much more positive spin. =) I've heard really great things about County trained nurses. Even the nursing students, at the hospital where I volunteer, tell me to go to County, if I get accepted. Everyone says the training is top-notch, and that I will learn so much more there than anywhere else! Thank you for all of the great advice, and good luck to you! PS, if you happen to find out what the points cut off is for Fall, or when they might start sending out letters, it would be great if you could pass that information along. =)
