I will have an interview at the end of this month for a registered nurse I position(Y-5133). However, I have heard the county is not hiring at this time. If so, why are they interviewing me?
I hope someone in California will be able to give me an answer....
Thanks you in advance.

I was hired by them in March and put on their "RN Hire list" until further notice. Once there is funding, they select applicants off their hire list in the order they applied and were hired. They told me to follow up in June/July. Good luck, lemme know what they tell you.

* Wow....really...u too, huh? Good luck. I can't believe they hired u s and then told u s to call them back in June/ July. I can't wait that long. I have been waiting over a month too and they still aren't hiring. I have about 5 friend s from nur sing school who got job s back in Nov. They say that the work condition s are pretty bad. Fir st off, in stead of 4 patient s, they are all receiving 5. If that wa sn't tough enough on a new nur se...on many of the unit s they elminated LVN' s and CNA' s. I gue s s it may depend on the unit, but they have 5 patient' s and are expercted to perform total patient care on all of them. I don't care who you are, it i s impo s sible to provide safe and effective care with that many pt' s when you are doing all the work. You'll probably have a little help if it' s med/ surg but it' s really doe s stink that they aren't hiring when they are sooo de sperate for nur s s at that ho spital. I gue s s we can ju st blame it on the economic time s. Good luck to u s all!

Hi guys.. I have a scheduled interview for the county this May.. Can you give me some interview tips and what mostly were covered in the exam?.. I really want to be prepared on that day, I want to work for the county.. I would really appreciate it guys.. thanks in advance. and Goodluck:)
I am not so sure if I will go for this interview because I have started an orientation up here in New York City! I always want to live in California but if the hospital is not really hiring; then I won't bother to go for an interview. Anyhow, I will probably reapply in the future online when the economy is getting better nationwide!
Good luck to all of you!
Have a good day!

Roadrunner you are a wise person the economy stinks out here right know. I am sure it is no better there. Keep your job and keep in contact with the nurses out here. They are not lying about this I assure you. It will change but not that quickly. Hang in there. Good-luck.

It is really bad here in Los Angeles.
I had heard that LACUSC was only interviewing and not hiring.
I guess this give nurse recruitment something to do until the "hold" is lifted. Hopefully, the hold won't turn into a freeze.
thanks for the reply roadrunner.. that's true you made a good choice. i just don't have any choice because this is the only interview i got for RN I position and I want to grab it.. when I had a tour it seemed like a nice place to work though. the staff were pretty friendly.. anyways, goodluck to me and everyone else in the same boat as I am.. hope we will all land nursing jobs:)
