i'm considering relocating to las vegas nv within the next year. i am interested in knowing where in the area is a good place to live, what the wages are(i will have 1 year experience in med/surg by the time i move), which hospitals are better than others etc.. any information would be great. it's difficult to make a life change without knowing anything about the area. i will be moving my whole family(husband and 2 children) and don't have any contacts out west.
thanks so much

I had a friend there and she hated the nursing......... Nurse patient ratios were high and the pay sucked...... And please forgive me, but the patients were all old.not to say I'm not....nellie:cool:

actually, Las Vegas is a city for everyone, young and old....and the pays not all that bad (from what I hear and from what I know with my current job)
There are so many new areas of town. It depends on where you work as far as areas to live.
I moved to Vegas myself and didn't have any problems finding jobs, housing, etc....
I noticed your from Pittsburgh, I was born there, but grew up in So Cal....the weather is much nicer here in the winter!
If you want, you can PM me and I'll help you out as much as I can!

"edited to remove solicitation."
Not fair. Solicitation is one of Las Vegas' primary industries.

Hi, I have a suggestion. Try Travel Nursing. For most situations one year med surg expereince is all that is needed. Travel Nursing helps with the cost of your relocation. You will receive a free luxury apartment in very good areas. You sign a contract for 13 or 26 weeks. You can get insurance on the first day of the assignment if you choose. You can bring your family. This can give you time too look around and still be able to have income.
I am starting my first Travel Contract on Tuesday, Oct 7,2003. I chose to take the housing allowance and am now sorry I did not take the free apartment. (live and learn). If you wish to get in touch with me privately I will tell you the expereinces I had choosing my travel nurse agency. Perish the thought that this should be seen as a solicitation by the editors.
