Please anyone out there that has information on a textbook. Foundation of psychiatric and mental health nursing by Varcarilis 6th edition, I have the 5th edth but i do not know if there are major difference in the book that worth buying the new one, because it is so expensive and i am short of cash now
Don't forget that you can also go to (or just call) other college campus bookstores to look for nursing books that you need.............they (the college) doesn't need to know that you are not a student there and they might have the same books for a cheaper price.
YOU can also check your college bulletin boards for peolple that might be trying to sell their books OR....YOU can post a note on the bulletin board saying that you are looking for used books for the next semester ( just make sure you check with nursing faculty 1st to be sure that the same books will be used again).
It takes just a little "shoppin' around" to find the cheaper textbooks that can save you alot of money.
For example: In my 1st semester of nursing school, the school mailed the nursing students a list of textboks and supplements that would be needed for the 1st semester; well, they were dumb enough to include the prices that
the school's campus bookstore was charging for each book...................the total was close to $475!
I still remember how a bunch of my classmates were complaining about how much money they spent on their books....I was flabbergasted by the total amount, so I decided to check around for cheaper prices on my books AND I found most of them at some of the online bookstores (like the ones already posted in this thread); as it turned out, the total price that I paid for books that semester was around $200................compared to some of the other student's that paid $475 ! That's a big difference AND I had more money left in my pocket afterwards for other things that I wanted or needed
This is a bit off topic but people always tell me to keep nursing text books for future references. But I paid over $400 (some used, some new) for them! Not worth it for me. So I came up with the idea to sell these current ones and get old editions! Information is basically the same and I got most of my money back.

That's a great idea
Yeah, most of my friends (that are nurses) say that they were told the same thing in nursing school, BUt they only kept theirs for about 3-5 yrs after passing the NCLEX.
GOOD LUCK!
check amazon.com. I usually always get my books from there for a much cheaper price, too. barnesandnoble.com is also a good place as sometimes they will give 10-20% off from ordering online (at least that has happened to me). another option would be to ask your fellow classmates if they books.
If you don't need to keep your books, try chegg.com
I haven't taken nursing classes yet, so I don't know what they have there...but basically you RENT your books for the semester for MUCH less than buying...I only got two books this semester; I saved over $100!!! You get free return shipping at the end of the semester.(and a pen!)
