Help! I'm having trouble finding schools in Michigan either on-line or on site that offer the LPN to RN bridge program. Does anyone know that can help?

Becky Lynn,

I am a GN from Excelsior College, but in MI they have no GN so I am an LPN waitng to take my RN Boards. I searched alot of sites on distance learning and found the best advice on this web site. It helped me alot so I am going to pass it on to you. 1) Go directally to Excelsior College for your Degree. 2) College Network, and Chancelors are Publishing house that want you to buy their books. You degree still comes from EC and you spend all kinds of money on their books, and may even take classes you really do not need. 3) Go to EBay, buy those publishing house books for alot cheaper. People are always trying to get rid of them, and they can help cut your study time down. Just make sure they are for the latest EC Program, as they changed the classes in the past year. I was able to work full time in an ER and study for my classes to pass in about 1 1/2 yrs, for much less than if I went to the local University. If this is not for you Bay De Noc Community College in Escanaba MI has a great Bridge Program that you can do both there and online. I hope this will help you. Good Luck. Kim

mccvlc.org has an LPN to RN program. KVCC used to be part of it but they dropped a year ago. I ended up with Excelsior because I missed the mccvlc.org pre req deadline by a week.

I live in West Michigan and have heard that Excelsior grads are not welcome in the hospitals.. I have no idea if there's any truth to this... I'll cross that bridge when I get there!

I live in northern IN and have just submitted my application to Excelsior College & was told that both IN and MI bon accepted Excelsior. If you decide to go that way let me know...maybe we can help eachother along the way:nurse: Good Luck!! P.S. if you do decide to go thru Excelsior....beware of publishing companies such as TCN & RUE...they are NOT partnered with Excelsior, even though that's what they tried to tell me!

hey I am in the same situation..I am looking for a way to get into excelsior please help me...I don't understand anything

start by going to excelsior.edu, under apply there is a number that you can call to talk to an advisor that can answer all of your questions, they are very nice:) You have to apply first and pay the $75 app fee, then have your transcripts sent over along with a copy of your current license (if you are a nurse) & that's where I am now. From what I understand once they have recieved my transcripts and license an admissions advisor will contact me and let me know what classes I need and all the other good stuff. Good luck!

I need all the help I can get!:p I am kinda nervous about doing a non traditional program, it's scary thinking you're doing it on your own! But I have done a lot of research on it and think it will be the best choice for my situation. From what I understand you can find some of the books at half.com and some people use sites like flashcardsexchange.com I think the other one is istudysmart.com....don't qoute me on that one! I also found some video's on youtube.com to help prepare for the CPNE, my favorites are by vanessamenan. I just got my transcipts and am mailing them out today. My email is [email protected]
