looking for rn salaries in alabama and n. carolina

I am thinking about moving to Huntsville, Alabama or North Carolina and was wondering what the payrates were like for a PCU RN with 17 years experience. Also wanting to know if there are any differentials for working 7p-7a shift. Thank you

Specializes in mostly in the basement.

I work in the Sandhills of NC and I make $22.00 with 25 yrs of experience. There good weekend diffs and the night shift I think makes $3.00 more/hr.

Specializes in CVICU, MICU, CCRN-CSC.

In the NW Georgia, North Alabama and UAB areas they all pay about the same. For a new grad around 19-20. with 2-3% added on per year of experiance. At UAB you have to pay Birmingham taxes and parking, but they have some great programs. Shift diffs and weekend diffs are what will make you more money. All of the hospitals in Atlanta really pay around the same thing for base. Like I am "flex" with no benefits and I make 29.00 hour. No raises, no vacation, no bonuses. I don't even get a raise when I hopefully get my CCRN certification. But I do get shift diffs. We are looking to move between Huntsville and Birmingham in the very near future (so I can go to UAB...ACNP), so I have been doing some research. Plus, where I work, we have lots of nurses that live in the North Alabama area and have worked at different hospitals in the area. If you hear anything better let me know....

Specializes in LTC , SDC and MDS certified (3.0).

Depends where in NC I live in a rural area. The local hospital starts them out at about 18-19 hr as new grads Every where I have looked and worked has paid shift diff and weekend diff. I say try it out as a traveler first. But also consider the cost of living as well.:welcome:
