CHeck out the local univerity hospitals (Jeff, Cooper, Penn, Hup) and the courses that they offer their nurses--most of the time they open up to outside RNs as well. You will have to pay but you'll earn your CEUs and they are great refresher courses--everything from vent management to EKG interpretation. As for clinical, perhaps contact a department and shadow a RN? I'm from the area and have (as a current staff nurse) shadowed clinical specialist and CRNAs. Everyone was really nice! Not sure if there are review courses out but I'll keep my ears open!
The "Start Here . . ." sticky at the top of the PA nurses tab has a link to a page that shows all of the nursing schools in PA that offer refresher courses. Per that link, there are a number of colleges in the Phila area that have them, including Drexel, Eastern and Temple.

Hi everyone! Long story short I graduated in may 2009 and due to some personal experiences I did not pass my boards till June 2011. I have been looking for my first RN job since June. I have my BLS and ACLS. I am thinking of a RN refresher course. I live in Philadelphia, PA. I want to explore both in class room and online programs. Also do these programs have clinicals in hospitals?? Any advice would really help. Thank you in advance!!
Hi ChrissybRN,
Im in the same exact boat as you. I graduated in 2009 and did not pass my boards until this year (Oct 2011)... im also looking to take a RN refresher course in the Philadelphia, Pa area.
Old old old thread, but just a shot in the dark to see how the refresher programs went and if they helped you get a job. I graduated 3.5 years ago but was offered a promotion at my current job having nothing to do with healthcare and am really starting to regret it. I'd like to get into nursing and imagine I'll need a refresher course and likely start in LTC or Rehab and just work my way up, which is fine.
