I currently live in New York State and I am a RN currently working in the OR. I have been a nurse for 15 years. My children and I would like to move to TN and I'm wondering not only about the hospitals but also the best place to live. I am a single mother with 3 teenaged children. Cleveland and Franklin sound like nice places to live but I'm not sure how close they are to available jobs. Also any info on the best place to work I've been a travel nurse for the past 5 years working in ORs. But only 10 room ORs. Do the hospitals around Nashville or the areas I've listed take travel nurses? Any information on towns or hospitals would be greatly appreciated.

I live in Cleveland and commute to Chattanooga for work. In Cleveland we have one hospital (SkyRidge) and a surgery center (that I know of). I will give you their websites so you can check for jobs. In Chattanooga there are three hospitals with ORs. Their jobs are also posted on their websites as well. In the Chattanooga/Cleveland area it can be difficult to find a job (may take a couple of months) around graduation time, as we are saturated with nursing schools.

Franklin is one of the more expensive places to live around in middle Tennessee. There are a lot more options for hospitals around the Nashville area though. Go to tristarhealth.com for quite a few hospitals to choose from. There are more hospitals that are not listed on the site but Atleast you can get the idea of the ones belonging to the tristar group.

Look into Spring Hill, TN. It's right below Franklin, and VERY nice and commuter friendly to Nashville. I moved here from NJ. Nashville has tons of option, lots of hospital and medical centers to choose from! Good luck!

also, HCA/Tristar have tons of hospitals in and around nashville http://www.tristarhealth.org or .com .... lots of OR positions, and try Murfreesboro, TN, 20 mins outside Nashville, good community growing through a huge growth spurt. The hospital just built a new facility 2 yrs ago, it's nice. And there's a surgical center across the street. They all hire travelers. I am one. Just resigned my contract for another 10 weeks, will probably go perm here too. i like this area a lot.
you can private message me for more info.
thanks!
