Looking for a really good Diagnostic Tests book

Published

Hello all! I hope everyone had a great week and enjoy the upcoming weekend!

As the title states, I am looking for a really good diagnostic tests book...with not too much emphasis on laboratory testing.

I am a clinical review nurse at a preventative health company and I need a diagnostic manual for tests that we run that I can refer to when I have questions or for when I need to advise the MD when communicating with them.

It will sit on my desk so size is not an issue. I just need something complete where I wont need another book to cover what it doesn't.

I have searched the web and found tons of books...but I have no way of knowing if they are good or cover the tests that the company provides. What are some books you have used, loved, and highly recommend?

Thank you so much in advance for any advice provided!

I picked up Mosby's Diagnostic and Laboratory Test Reference while I was in nursing school and I still whip it out every now and then. It gives you everything you need to know - what type of test it is, what the normal findings are, what the test is used for/physiology behind the test, possible complications/contraindications, the procedure and patient care during the test, and what abnormal findings are. All of those are organized by heading so it is very easy to find the information you are looking for very quickly.

I actually have come across that book in my search and it has gotten a lot of good reviews, it is very high on my list to purchase. Thank you for your recommendation!
